Plan at a glance
Location, entrance and tickets
Longguizhai Waterfall is in Hengdong Village, Tangkeng Town, Fengshun County, Meizhou. The usual entrance is the main scenic-area gate, with the car park and Visitor Centre nearby. An adult ticket costs around CNY 50 at the gate or around CNY 45–48 online when bought in advance; online tickets may need to be purchased around 30 minutes ahead. Children, students and some senior visitors may receive discounted tickets according to the day's ID rules.
Glass drifting and the high slide are separate products. A package with admission, glass drifting and the slide costs around CNY 99–115, but its value depends on water conditions, equipment and the group's fitness. The scenic area generally opens from 08:00 to 18:00, with last entry at 17:30, and advance reservation is usually unnecessary.
Suggested time and physical demands
Allow 1–1.5 hours for the viewing platform and the riverside platform below the waterfall; this route is comparatively easy. With the 520-step Love Ladder and higher viewpoints, allow 2–3 hours. Even the basic route needs shoes with good grip and protection for phones and clothing because the mist is strong near the falls.
Longguizhai works as a half-day or full-day Fengshun stop, or as a first-day waterfall visit followed by hot springs. Water volume, weather and road conditions can change the experience, so do not plan the return too late for the sake of one photograph.

Viewing platform and water-mist path
The viewing platform faces the waterfall and gives a wider view of the drop. The lower platform is closer to the water, where the spray becomes much stronger and clothes or phones may get wet. First-time visitors can judge the water level and conditions from the viewing platform before deciding to continue down.
On a sunny morning or afternoon, a rainbow may appear in the spray, but light, rain and water flow all affect the result. Treat it as a possibility, not a promise, and remain behind marked boundaries near the wet edge.
The 520-step ladder and optional water activities
The 520-step Love Ladder climbs to a higher viewpoint through shaded forest, offering a view back towards the waterfall and surrounding hills. It is much more demanding than the entrance-to-viewing-platform route, so older adults, young children and visitors with knee problems should not force the climb.
Glass drifting and the high slide require separate tickets, and their operating hours, equipment and queues depend on the day. They are not part of the basic waterfall route; complete the main visit first and decide according to fitness and weather.
Who it suits
Longguizhai suits visitors interested in natural scenery, summer cooling, waterfall photography and family water activities. Families can use the viewing-platform and lower-platform route, while active hikers can add the Love Ladder. Do not make every member of a group join drifting or the slide simply because a package is available.
Build your day
A 1–1.5-hour basic waterfall route
From the entrance, walk around five minutes to the viewing platform, see the full waterfall, then walk about ten minutes down to the lower water platform and return by the same route. The basic route has little climbing, but mist and slippery surfaces increase closer to the falls.
Protect phones, cameras and paper items before going down, and wear shoes with good grip. Group members who do not want to get wet can stay at the viewing platform rather than going all the way to the lower platform.
A 2–3-hour higher viewpoint route
Visit the viewing platform and lower water platform first, then take the 520-step Love Ladder to a higher viewpoint and return by the marked path. This route uses more energy and is best planned when the weather is stable and the group still has strength.
If rain has made the steps or rocks slippery, shorten the route or skip the climb. Do not run downhill to save time; wet surfaces, passing visitors and spray all reduce footing.
A waterfall and hot-spring two-day route
On day one, visit Longguizhai Waterfall, eat at Tangkeng Town or a nearby farm restaurant and stay near a hot-spring resort. On day two, choose Zhongyu Shangwei or Fengliang Ancient Town before returning. The hot springs, Hakka round house and old town require driving, so confirm parking and the direction of the return journey.
Get there
Driving, high-speed rail and mountain roads
Driving to “Longguizhai Waterfall Scenic Area” is the most practical option. The journey takes around 3–4 hours from the Pearl River Delta and about 30 minutes from Fengshun County; a large free car park is available. A taxi from Fengshun East Railway Station takes around 10–15 minutes, while a taxi from Meizhou West Railway Station takes about one hour.
The later mountain road has sharp bends, and two-way traffic requires slow passing. New drivers should avoid unfamiliar mountain driving, especially late in the day; non-drivers should arrange the return vehicle in advance.
Know before you go
Water flow, roads and optional activities
Water volume can fall significantly in autumn and winter. The falls may be stronger during the rainy season or after rain, but the roads and rocks are also more slippery. Check weather and water conditions before travelling; do not promise high flow, a rainbow or a particular photograph.
Prices, queues and equipment for the glass drifting and high slide may change. Complete the basic waterfall route first, then decide whether an optional activity suits the group. These products are not automatically included in the admission ticket.
Equipment, supplies and safety
Rocks and wooden paths near the falls can be very wet. Wear sports shoes with good grip, and bring a waterproof phone case, light jacket and spare clothes. The mist is heavy on the lower platform, so protect cameras and phones and stay out of warning areas.
There is a small shop and tea area, but choices are limited and may be expensive. Carry water and snacks, and use Tangkeng Town or a foothill farm restaurant for a fuller meal instead of relying entirely on the scenic area.
