Plan at a glance
Location, entrance and opening scope
Sanheba Battle Memorial Park is on Bizhihwei Mountain in Huidong Village, Sanhe Town, Dapu County, Meizhou. The usual entrance is the stone-carved archway at the main gate. Admission is free. Groups should reserve in advance; individual visitors can usually scan and register on site or use the WeChat account.
The outdoor park can generally be entered all day, but the Martyrs' Monument usually operates until 17:30 and the Battle Memorial Museum around 08:30–17:00. The museum closes on Mondays except some public holidays. Do not use the park's all-day access as the opening time for the complete visit.
Suggested time and visit scope
Allow 2–3 hours for the gate, August First Square, Battle Memorial Museum, experience trench and the monument on Bizhihwei Mountain. Allow 4–5 hours if you add the Hanjian Source Hakka Mother sculpture, the Ming-era city wall and Zhongshan Park. The hill sections involve walking, and supplies are limited, so the route takes more than the indoor museum time alone.
Sanheba is remote and suits self-drive visitors or travellers with a pre-arranged return vehicle. For a two-day Dapu trip, visit the park and Sanhe Town on day one, then choose Tai'an Building, Baihou Ancient Town or Zhang Bishi Former Residence on day two rather than forcing several county-level stops into one afternoon.

Battle museum and experience trench
The Battle Memorial Museum uses historical photographs, objects and audiovisual material to explain the Sanheba campaign. The experience trench extends that history into the outdoor terrain. First-time visitors will usually understand the route better by seeing the museum before walking to the trench and monument.
The museum is a red-heritage site, not an amusement facility. Keep quiet, follow the no-flash rule and watch children carefully on uneven steps and ground around the trench.
Martyrs' Monument and the Three-River confluence
The monument and lookout on Bizhihwei Mountain provide views towards the river confluence. The Meijiang, Tingjiang and Meitan rivers meet here to form the Han River, linking the outdoor landscape with the memorial park's historical theme.
There are no reliable shops at the hilltop or the Hanjian Source viewpoint. Carry water and snacks before walking uphill. Late-afternoon light can suit river photography, but return to the car park before the outdoor and transport conditions become difficult.
Zhongshan Memorial Hall and who it suits
Zhongshan Park and an early Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall are in Huicheng Village in Sanhe Town, and the Ming-era city wall can add another historical stop. These locations require a short drive and are not part of one continuous walk inside the memorial park.
Sanheba suits red-history visitors, family study trips, cultural photographers and self-drive travellers. Visitors who only want the campaign history can use the 2–3-hour core route; those who want the riverside landscape and town need a more relaxed half-day.
Build your day
A 2–3-hour memorial-park route
Enter through the archway, visit August First Square and the generals' statues, continue to the Battle Memorial Museum and experience trench, then walk up to the monument and the Three-River viewpoint before returning by the signs. This order handles the time-limited indoor museum before the outdoor route.
If you arrive in the afternoon, confirm whether the museum is still admitting visitors before walking uphill. The monument's later closing time does not mean that the entire route can be completed safely in the final half-hour.
A 4–5-hour history and Sanhe Town route
Complete the memorial park in the morning, then drive down to the Hanjian Source Hakka Mother sculpture, the Ming-era city wall and Zhongshan Park before eating in Sanhe Town. All points require driving, so arrange parking and food in town rather than relying on hilltop purchases.
If someone in the group cannot manage the hill, arrange a meeting point at the museum or a flatter outdoor area. The route should be shortened when fitness drops; do not keep climbing simply to complete the planned list.
A two-day Dapu route
On day one, visit Sanheba, Zhongshan Park and stay in Dapu County. On day two, choose Tai'an Building, Baihou Ancient Town or Zhang Bishi Former Residence before returning. Dapu's attractions are spread out, so group them by direction instead of treating all the buildings as one walking route.
Get there
Driving, high-speed rail and return transport
Driving to “Sanheba Battle Memorial Park” is the most practical option. The journey takes around 3–4 hours from the Pearl River Delta and about one hour from Meizhou city; the park has a car park. From Meizhou West Railway Station, take a coach towards Dapu County and transfer, or take a taxi for around one hour. A pre-arranged vehicle is also useful.
The location is remote, and buses are infrequent. After leaving the hill, a taxi may be difficult to find, so non-drivers should confirm both the outward and return trips and the county-town connection before setting out.
Know before you go
Closure, reservation and memorial-site conduct
The museum closes on Mondays, and groups need advance reservations. Individual visitors should still be ready to scan or register. Follow the no-flash rule inside the museum and keep quiet around the monument, statues and memorial facilities; do not climb or touch them.
This is a red-heritage site intended for reading and reflection, not entertainment. Explain the boundaries to children in advance and supervise the group on steps, slopes and riverside viewpoints.
Hilltop supplies, weather and return time
There are no reliable shops at the hilltop or Hanjian Source viewpoint, so bring water and snacks. Holiday traffic can be heavy; arriving around 08:00–09:00 makes it easier to complete both the museum and outdoor route.
Rain can make roads, steps and slopes slippery. Even if you want to photograph the river in the afternoon, descend according to the return time and do not leave the group or car on an unfamiliar mountain road after dark.
