Location and visit area
Arctic Village is in Beiji Town, Mohe. Qixing Square is the scenic area's main transport and activity hub. The North and South routes and the village landmarks are all part of the same scenic area, with shuttle buses linking stops that are spread out.
Tickets, shuttles and hours
Adult admission is about CNY 88, and the shuttle fare is about CNY 30 per person for multiple rides within 24 hours. Confirm when purchasing whether your admission ticket includes the shuttle. The main scenic area is open all day and does not require advance reservations. Shuttles run at roughly 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; make separate arrangements for evening transport.
How much time to allow
The North route takes about two to three hours. If you continue on foot to Shenzhou North Pole Square and then visit the post office or the South route, allow at least half a day. First-time visitors can start with the North route and decide whether to add the South route based on shuttle times.

Choose your visit
North route: landmarks and riverside forest
Jinji Zhiguan (the Golden Rooster Crown), Boundary Marker No. 138, the cluster of stone monuments bearing 北 (“North”), the Northernmost Home, and Shenzhou North Pole Square make up the North route's northernmost-landmark experience. A riverside forest boardwalk links woodland, wetland and river views. It suits visitors who enjoy walking and taking in the natural scenery.
South route: village culture and riverside spaces
The South route includes cultural stops such as Arctic Culture Park, the Oroqen Ethnic Museum and a Russian wooden church. The riverside path at the culture park is a good place for a short stop. The Arctic outpost is also on this route, but access is controlled by border authorities; plan to visit only the publicly accessible outer area.
Post office and reindeer park
China's Northernmost Post Office is a place to mail a postcard or learn about postal services. Commemorative postmarks and the café upstairs depend on the day's services. The reindeer park is a separate, paid experience in the village for visitors interested in animals. Respect animal welfare and follow the park's rules.
Build your day
A shorter visit to the North route
Take the North Line shuttle from Qixing Square to Jinji Zhiguan, then follow the path past Boundary Marker No. 138, the “North” stone monuments and the Northernmost Home. Return by boarding at a designated stop when the shuttle is operating. The route takes about two to three hours and is mostly on foot, so wear comfortable, grippy shoes.
Extend the North route and spend time in the village
If time allows, continue on foot from the North route to Shenzhou North Pole Square. Walking there from the Jinji Zhiguan area takes about an hour; allow extra time for the return walk and shuttle wait. You can visit the post office after returning to the village. If the extension leaves too little time to get back, save the post office or the South route for another part of your stay.
South route and evening activities
Stops on the South route are spread out. Take the South Line shuttle from Qixing Square, visit open stops such as the culture park, and return by boarding at a designated stop. Qixing Square sometimes hosts a bonfire event; check whether one is scheduled that day.
Get there
From downtown Mohe to the scenic-area gate
Buses run from Mohe Railway Station or the coach station to the gate of Arctic Village. The listed fare is about CNY 21, and the ride takes about an hour; departures are usually coordinated with train arrivals. A chartered car can also take you directly to the entrance. Confirm your return arrangements before setting out.
Shuttles and driving inside the scenic area
Private cars cannot circulate freely inside the scenic area, so visitors usually transfer to a shuttle or walk. A shuttle ticket is about CNY 30 per person for multiple rides within 24 hours. You can arrange a ride through the “驿站点” (Yizhandian) WeChat mini program, by phone or at a shuttle stop. The dispatch number is +86 457 285 8049; confirm service for the day before relying on it.
Parking and lodging
Self-driving visitors generally park outside the scenic-area gate. If you are staying at a village guesthouse, report your vehicle in advance and obtain a vehicle-access QR code. Once inside, park by the guesthouse; use the shuttle or walk to reach other stops. Before an autumn or winter stay, ask about heating and hot water.
Know before you go
Border controls and photography
The Arctic outpost is in a military-managed area. Visitors may enter only publicly accessible outer areas and must follow on-site border and photography rules. Do not photograph the outpost or military facilities, fly a drone, approach the border fence or cross it. Along the river, stay on open paths and within areas permitted on site.
Weather, walking and return trips
Both the North and South routes include walking. Walking from Qixing Square to the outpost and back takes about two hours; taking the shuttle reduces the distance on foot. Mosquitoes are common in the forest in summer, so wear light-colored long sleeves and bring repellent. In winter, it gets dark early and paths may be icy; wear warm, non-slip shoes and leave remote shuttle stops before dusk.
Postal services, reindeer and the night sky
The post office's usual hours are 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., but opening times and postmark service may change. Postcards sent to other parts of China or overseas may take a long time; ask the post office about postage and delivery options before mailing. Keep children close during reindeer interactions, maintain a respectful distance and follow the park's feeding rules. Do not use food to lure animals into posing for photos. Aurora sightings depend on weather and geomagnetic conditions, so plan your itinerary and lodging as usual.
Food and supplies
Dining options inside the scenic area are limited. For more choices, eat near the central commercial street by Qixing Square. Bring water before walking the North or South route. Check whether the café upstairs at the post office is open that day.
