Guanyin Mountain is near K4030 on National Highway G331, about 30 kilometers from Arctic Village. A stone arch marks the mountain entrance. Yanzhigou's gold-mining remains are spread across several locations and do not have a single entrance.
Tickets and opening hours
Ticket information for Guanyin Mountain, Yanzhigou and Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall is inconsistent; a package ticket or individual charges may be offered. Confirm the fees, included stops and shuttle arrangements when you arrive. Advance reservations are not required. The outdoor mountain area is open all day, while the ancestral hall is open only during the day; check its hours before visiting.
How long to allow
Allow about 30 to 40 minutes for the Guanyin statue and ancestral hall, or about one and a half to two hours if you add the Yanzhigou markers and nearby remains. A brief visit to the ancestral hall alone takes about 20 to 30 minutes for the main hall and displays. These estimates do not include the drive from downtown Mohe or Arctic Village.

Guanyin of the Forest Sea
The main landmark on Guanyin Mountain is a 10.8-meter-tall, three-faced statue of Guanyin, surrounded by forest paths. The visit focuses on the statue, a short walk and the mountain setting. It suits visitors who want to add a cultural stop to an itinerary in the direction of Arctic Village.
Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall
The hall commemorates Li Jinyong, who developed Mohe's gold mines in the late Qing dynasty. The main building was rebuilt in 1998. The main hall has a statue and biographical displays; the east and west wings include galleries titled “Hall of Merit” and “Hall of Advisors,” covering the history of the gold mines and the people associated with them.
Yanzhigou gold-mining sites
Yanzhigou, also known as Old Gold Ditch, is where placer gold was discovered in the third year of the Guangxu era (1877). Stone markers, a marker for the former Gold Mine Bureau site and scattered mine pits remain in the area. The stops are spread out, making this a good visit for people interested in borderland mining history and willing to travel between sites by car.

A short visit to the mountain and hall
Enter through the stone arch beside G331. Walk or take the shuttle up to the Guanyin statue, then go down to Li Jinyong Ancestral Hall to see the main hall and displays. The upper and lower stops are separate; allow about 30 to 40 minutes in total. Check whether the hall is open that day.
A historical route through Yanzhigou
If you have time, continue by car from the mountain and hall to the Yanzhigou stone markers, the former Gold Mine Bureau site marker and any open remains. Then return to your parking or pickup point. The full visit takes about one and a half to two hours. Skip any closed or unopened location and do not enter mine pits.
Return and meals
If you hire a car from Mohe or Arctic Village, agree in advance on the pickup order and waiting time at the mountain, hall and mining sites. Dining options nearby are limited; eat afterward in Arctic Village or downtown Mohe.
Get there
By car or chartered vehicle
The drive from downtown Mohe or Arctic Village takes about 30 to 60 minutes. Follow G331 to the stone arch at Guanyin Mountain; the scattered Yanzhigou stops are along S207 (Mobei Highway / 漠北公路) and require further driving. There is no public transport route, so arrange both the return ride and transport between the sites.
Parking and getting around
There are parking spaces near the Guanyin Mountain entrance. From there, walk or use the shuttle. The ancestral hall is downhill, while the gold-mining remains are scattered along nearby roads; travel between these stops by car.

The ancestral hall is open only during the day, and its exact hours may vary. Confirm that it is open before deciding whether to visit the mountain or hall first. Some Yanzhigou sites may be closed or temporarily inaccessible; stay in open areas and do not enter mine pits or closed zones.
Summer insects and supplies
Mosquitoes are common in the forest in summer, so wear light-colored long sleeves and bring repellent. There are no dependable dining or supply points nearby; bring water. For a meal or a rest stop, return to Arctic Village or downtown Mohe.
