An open town area
Hengdaohezi Russian-style Town is in Hengdaohezi Town, Hailin. It developed around the Chinese Eastern Railway. There is no single town gate: the Oil Painting Village, Hengdaohezi East Station and the Russian-style buildings along the main road can all serve as walking starting points.
Public areas and separate venues
The public areas are free and can be explored all day. The locomotive depot, Northeast Tiger Park and film city each sell separate tickets, and their tickets are not interchangeable. The locomotive depot commonly opens Tuesday–Sunday from 09:00–16:00 and closes on Mondays; confirm before departure.

The old Russian-style street and wooden houses
The old street retains rows of yellow-walled, carved-log houses. Slow down to look at the doors, windows, walls and relationships between the lanes; the Oil Painting Village area is a useful starting point for photos and a stroll. The continuous townscape is the main attraction, and walking along the street is more natural than searching for individual buildings one by one.
The church and railway crossing
The Church of the Entry of the Mother of God is a wooden Orthodox church with a blue roof and white walls. The railway crossing is a good place to observe the relationship between the railway and the town. The church commonly closes on Mondays, so avoid Monday if you want to see the interior and follow the on-site arrangements.
Who the town walk suits
The town is a good half-day slow visit for architectural photographers, railway-history enthusiasts, quiet walkers and families. Visitors interested in animals can schedule the Northeast Tiger Park separately, but its admission, caged sightseeing vehicle and feeding rules are not part of the town walk.

The 2–3-hour walking route
Start at the Oil Painting Village, follow the main road past the old Russian-style street and the Church of the Entry of the Mother of God, then continue to the railway crossing. Finish at the Chinese Eastern Railway Locomotive Depot and view its fan-shaped exterior. The interior requires a separate ticket; when opening hours are uncertain, complete the exterior and town-street walk first.
A one-day combined route
Visit the Northeast Tiger Park outside town in the morning, then return to town for a slow afternoon walk in the order of Oil Painting Village, old street, church and railway crossing. The tiger park and town are two separate products, so calculate their taxi rides and venue dwell time separately. A single street walk does not cover a full day's itinerary.
A Monday plan
The locomotive depot and church commonly have Monday closures. On a Monday visit, focus on the public streets, Oil Painting Village and railway crossing, and move the separate venues to another day. If a temporary closure changes the usual arrangement, follow the venue's notice for that day.
Get there
High-speed rail to Hengdaohezi East Station
The high-speed train from Harbin to Hengdaohezi East Station takes about 1.5–2 hours; trains also arrive from the Mudanjiang direction. Taxis or shared cars are commonly used from the East Station to the town's sights, at about CNY 10–15 per person. Save the driver's phone number before returning rather than relying only on an immediate ride request.
Walking, parking and attractions outside town
The town's core area is compact and the sights are mainly connected on foot. Public car parks are available and are usually free or inexpensive, but spaces may be limited. The Northeast Tiger Park is outside town, and the film city is not part of the town's public area; set a separate navigation destination and arrange a vehicle.

Treat venue tickets separately
The public streets are free. The locomotive depot and Northeast Tiger Park require separate tickets, and the film city has its own ticket arrangements. If you want to enter the locomotive depot, first confirm that it is open that day; its usual opening days and hours still need to be checked locally.
Season and street-side spending
Winter snow makes the buildings photogenic, but temperatures are very low, so wear shoes with good grip. Summer is better for a longer walk through town. Before paying for a photo shoot or an animal-holding photo, ask about the price, duration and whether finished photos are included; do not spend until the terms are clear.
Food and the return trip
Look for Northeast foods such as jinbing (筋饼), a thin, chewy flatbread, tofu sheets (干豆腐) and iron-pot stew. Confirm which shops are open when you arrive. Before finishing the town visit, arrange the vehicle back to the East Station, Hailin or Mudanjiang, then decide whether the tiger park or film city can fit into the day.
