Walk about two minutes from Red Palace and Red Square to the museum, see the first-floor temporary exhibition, then the second-floor permanent display, and finish by collecting the guide leaflet or stamps. It is best used within a half-day route rather than as a full-day destination.
First-time visitors can include it in a Haifeng cultural walking route
Allow around 90 minutes for Red Palace and Red Square, then 30 minutes for the museum before walking to Peng Pai Former Residence and the Chishanyue Peasant Association Former Site. End at Haifeng Second Road for food. To reduce walking, link the museum with the exterior of Chen Jiongming’s Former Governor’s Office and the night market.

The second-floor permanent display is best viewed in the order of ancient civilisation, local development, modern history, and folk arts. Ceramics, jade, bronzes, paintings, lacquerware, and wood carvings provide a compact overview of Haifeng’s history.
Pair the stamps with a continuous Red Palace and Red Square visit
The museum has five dedicated stamps; you can bring your own notebook or collect a guide leaflet. Returning to Red Palace and Red Square after the museum helps connect revolutionary history with local culture. If you continue through the town in the evening, Haifeng’s vegetable tea, rice cakes, thin pancakes, and beef-noodle soup are nearby options.
Get there
Drive to the museum, but expect limited parking in the town centre
Navigate to “Haifeng Museum.” Parking is available nearby, but it is not wise to rely on finding a last-minute space during busy periods. The library car park and marked street spaces are alternatives; large coaches are not well suited to the narrow lanes nearby.
From Shanwei Station, use the bus or a short local connection
Take Bus 129 from Shanwei Station to Sanjiao Stop, then walk about five minutes. Once in Haifeng County town, the museum, Red Palace and Red Square, and the former residence are close enough to connect by taxi, walking, or shared e-bike.

Set expectations correctly: this is a small, concentrated museum
A standalone visit normally takes only 15–30 minutes, and weekdays are usually quiet. It is best combined with Red Palace and Red Square rather than treated as a reason for a separate trip.
Plan around closure times and the indoor environment
The museum is closed Monday and has a midday break. After 9 am is generally quiet, while afternoon light works well for the indoor and outdoor setting. Air conditioning can be strong, so bring a light layer; plain-coloured clothes photograph well, and avoid disturbing other visitors in the galleries.
