Peng Pai Former Residence is on Longjin East Second Road, Qiaodong Community, Haicheng Town, Haifeng County, on the east bank of the Longjin River. The main house, Dequ Study Room, Longshepu site, and displayed objects trace Peng Pai’s early life and the history of the Haifeng peasant movement.
Entry is free, but use ID registration and avoid Monday
The residence is free to visit with real-name registration using your passport or identification. An advance booking QR code can make entry quicker, while groups of 20 or more need a group booking. It is open 9 am–5:30 pm, with last entry at 5:15 pm, and is closed on Mondays except public holidays.

Allow about one hour for the main house, study room, and riverfront
Enter through the main gate, visit the exhibition in the main house, continue to Dequ Study Room, then photograph the building from the Longjin River side. This route fits naturally with Red Palace and Red Square or Haifeng Museum on the same day.
First-time visitors can use around three hours for a history route
Start at the residence and Dequ Study Room, then walk about 15 minutes to the Chishanyue Peasant Association Former Site. Continue by car, around eight minutes, to Red Palace and Red Square, and finish at Haifeng Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall. For a slower town walk, continue from Red Palace and Red Square through the Red Culture Street, the exterior of Chen Jiongming’s Former Governor’s Office, Haifeng Museum, and the night market.

Begin with the main house to understand its architecture and family history
The main house is a late-Qing “four-point gold” residence, combining a traditional layout with a Western-style front porch, fire-wall gables, Roman columns, and century-old patterned tiles. On the first floor, the portrait of Peng Pai’s mother Zhou Feng and the introduction to family martyrs provide context for the family and revolutionary history.
Use Dequ Study Room and Longshepu to complete the historical story
Dequ Study Room was Peng Pai’s study place in his youth and the site where the “Six-Person Peasant Association” was founded in 1922; it displays material on peasant-association struggles. Longshepu, in front of the residence, hosted major peasant gatherings and the burning of land deeds. End with the riverfront exterior before continuing to Red Palace and Red Square.

Drivers can use nearby roadside or marked parking spaces
Navigate to “Peng Pai Former Residence.” Free roadside spaces are available nearby, but they fill in busy periods. Arrive early, or use nearby marked spaces and the library car park if the immediate area is full.
Bus 129 reaches the county-town core from Shanwei Station
Take Bus 129 from Shanwei Station to Sanjiao Stop, then walk about five minutes; a direct taxi takes around 40 minutes. The residence is close to the county centre, making it easy to connect Red Palace and Red Square and the museum by walking, short taxi ride, or shared e-bike.

Do not schedule the visit on Monday or near last entry
The residence is closed on Mondays, with last entry at 5:15 pm. If you also want Red Palace and Red Square or the museum, arrive at the former residence in the morning or by early afternoon. Weekday mornings are quiet, while 2–4 pm is useful for architectural light.
Keep the indoor visit quiet and prepare for sun outdoors
Do not use flash, touch objects, or bring drinks into the galleries. Outdoor areas receive strong sun, so bring sun protection. Plain, vintage, or Chinese-style clothing works well with the white walls and grey tiles. Parking is limited in the county centre, especially on weekends and holidays.
