Plan at a glance
Location, history and admission
Jixiang Misheng Dalelin Temple is at 1715 Heping Road in Horqin District, Tongliao, beside the north side of Xilamulun Park. Founded in 1993 and completed in 1997, its architectural style was inspired by the former Moli Temple. Enter through whichever entrance is open to visitors that day and follow the on-site directions.
Admission is free and no reservation is required. Usual hours are 07:00–16:30, though entry may stop early at around 16:00. Arrive before 16:00 and check the notice at the entrance on the day.
Visit time and entrances
Allow about 30 minutes to 1 hour for the central axis and main halls, or 1–2 hours to look more closely at the murals, Buddha statues and prayer-wheel corridor. Enter through an entrance open to visitors and leave through the same entrance.
Xilamulun Park adjoins the temple, but the two sites have separate entrances and operating arrangements. Count the temple visit separately; the park zoo and amusement rides are not part of it.

Choose your visit
Main Hall and central-axis buildings
Follow the route from the mountain gate through the Hall of Heavenly Kings to the Main Hall (Mahavira Hall) to see the principal buildings along the temple’s central axis. The Main Hall contains 33 gilt-bronze Buddha statues. Its outer walls carry 21 Buddhist murals, and the four red columns in front are about 16 metres tall.
Whether visitors may enter the halls depends on the day’s arrangements. Even if a hall is closed, you can view the buildings from the courtyard, follow the sequence of the mountain gate, Hall of Heavenly Kings and Main Hall, and then stop near the Kalachakra Vajra Stupa.
Kalachakra Vajra Stupa and prayer-wheel corridor
The Kalachakra Vajra Stupa is a Tibetan-style white stupa, with a golden roof that stands out from outside the temple. Gold prayer wheels line the corridor; visitors may turn them clockwise.
The red walls, golden roof tiles and prayer flags make good subjects for exterior photographs. White pigeons also live on the grounds; do not feed or chase them for photos.
Who may enjoy the visit
Visitors interested in Tibetan Buddhism, temple architecture or Horqin religious culture can focus on the Main Hall, white stupa and prayer-wheel corridor.
If you mainly want a walk, visit nearby Xilamulun Park separately. Follow each site’s own entrance and opening arrangements.
For an indoor visit to Tongliao's regional-history and archaeology collections, see Tongliao Museum.
Build your day
30-minute to 1-hour central-axis route
Enter through an entrance open to visitors that day. Follow the central axis to the mountain gate, Hall of Heavenly Kings and Main Hall, then stop near the Kalachakra Vajra Stupa. The route takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour; return through the same open route to your entrance.
If a hall is closed, view it from outside and do not enter staff-only areas. Entry may stop at around 16:00, so start the short route earlier in the day.
1–2-hour detailed route
Enter through an open entrance and follow the central axis. Continue to the outside of the Main Hall to view the murals and red columns, then walk clockwise along the prayer-wheel corridor and finish near the Kalachakra Vajra Stupa. Allow about 1–2 hours and leave through the entrance you used to enter.
Check opening and photography signs before entering any hall. If it is closed or photography is prohibited, stay in the courtyards where visitors are allowed. Follow the areas open that day.
Get there
Buses and walking
Take bus 12 or 17 to “三水厂(老干部活动中心)站” (No. 3 Water Plant / Retired Cadres Activity Center Stop), then walk west for about 200 metres. You can also take bus 9, 11, 62 or 67 to “西拉木伦公园站” (Xilamulun Park Stop), then use a map to find an entrance open to temple visitors.
Search for “吉祥密乘大乐林寺” or “和平路 1715 号” in your navigation app. From the park stop, follow directions to the temple entrance; do not mistake a side gate to Xilamulun Park for a temple entrance.
Driving and parking
Set your navigation to “吉祥密乘大乐林寺” or 1715 Heping Road. Follow on-site signs to an open entrance and the parking area. Free parking is available inside the temple grounds, but spaces are limited and are used on a first-come, first-served basis.
After your visit, return to the parking area through the entrance you used. If you continue to Xilamulun Park, enter through one of the park’s own entrances and follow its opening arrangements.
Know before you go
Parking and return arrangements
Free parking inside the temple grounds is limited and first come, first served. Buses or taxis are alternatives; confirm your pick-up point before arranging your return.
Religious ceremonies or temporary events may change entrances, which halls are open and when entry stops. Follow directions from staff on site.
Temple etiquette and photography
Remove hats and sunglasses before entering a hall, dress modestly and keep quiet where monks are practising. Do not photograph Buddha statues, religious activities or monks without permission; photography inside halls is generally not allowed.
Turn prayer wheels clockwise. Do not feed the pigeons in the courtyard or chase or scare them for photos.
Nearby park and dining in the city
Xilamulun Park adjoins Dalelin Temple, but its opening hours, zoo and amusement rides are managed separately. You can visit the park after the temple; first check whether the areas you plan to visit are open.
Back in central Tongliao, consider Hajiuhai or Hanwang for a meal, or visit Maliu Dairy Shop on Wanda Golden Street for items such as urum and yogurt. Plan dining separately from the temple visit.
