How to Visit

Use the East Gate and cableway
For a first Fanjingshan visit, enter and leave through the East Gate. The East Gate has the cableway and works best for seeing Hongyun Golden Peak, Mushroom Stone, Old Golden Peak, and the main summit area in one day. The West Gate is better for stronger hikers.
Tip:Current entry time is 08:00-15:00 at the East Gate and 08:00-13:00 at the West Gate. After 14:00, hiking up from the East Gate is not allowed; after 15:00, hiking down from the East Gate is not allowed.

Book the East Gate package in advance
Fanjingshan uses real-name timed reservation. The common East Gate adult package is CNY 308, including admission, shuttle bus, and round-trip cableway. Holiday periods, summer, and clear-weather weekends can sell out.
Tip:Do not wait until arrival to decide. Without a successful reservation, you may not be able to enter.

Keep a full day for the summit route
The easier route is East Gate Visitor Center, shuttle bus, cableway, Mushroom Stone, Pudu Square, Hongyun Golden Peak, Old Golden Peak, then cableway down. Even at a normal pace, allow 5-6 hours.
Tip:Hongyun Golden Peak usually needs separate reservation or on-site queueing, so handle that first and fit Mushroom Stone and Old Golden Peak around it.

Stay near the East Gate if the summit is your priority
If your goal is Hongyun Golden Peak and possible cloud views, stay in Jiangkou or near the East Gate the night before. Early entry reduces queue time and gives you more room for changing weather.
Tip:Tongren Railway Station is more convenient than Tongren South Railway Station. Buses to Fanjingshan leave from the tourist bus station near Tongren Railway Station.

Insider Tips
✦Bring your passport or the ID used for booking, as both reservation and entry checks are real-name.
✦The summit is colder than the base; bring a light jacket or rain layer even in summer.
✦Hongyun Golden Peak and Old Golden Peak may close temporarily for rockfall clearing, thunderstorms, ice, or snow.
✦Do not bring a drone. Fanjingshan is strictly managed as a protected area.
✦If you only get a late entry slot, do not force both golden peaks. Mushroom Stone plus one peak is more realistic.
