How to Visit
1

Use it before or after Fanjingshan

Zhaisha Dong Village is very close to Fanjingshan's East Gate. It works best as a place to stay before an early mountain entry, eat after coming down, or take a relaxed half-day walk. Do not travel from Tongren city only for this village.

Tip:Treat it as a convenient village stop near Fanjingshan, not as a full-day attraction.
2

Entry is free; parking is separate

Zhaisha usually does not charge an entrance ticket. Parking near the village gate can be budgeted around CNY 10. In the daytime, see the drum tower, wind-and-rain bridge, and stilted houses; at night, come for lights and dinner.

Tip:Folk performances, bonfire events, and long-table meals are not fixed daily programs, so do not plan the visit only around them.
3

Start with the wind-and-rain bridge and drum tower

After entering, walk first to the wind-and-rain bridge, then continue to the drum tower and the main village street. The village is small, so 1-2 hours is enough for a slow walk; add more time if you eat or stay overnight.

Tip:Stone paths can be slippery after rain, and your legs may already be tired after Fanjingshan.
4

Choose lodging for function

If you need to enter Fanjingshan early the next morning, staying in Zhaisha is much easier than staying in Tongren city. If you care about room quality, check reviews and location before booking, not only photos.

Tip:The village is fairly commercial. The benefit is easy food and lodging; the tradeoff is less original village atmosphere.
Highlights
  • The wind-and-rain bridge, drum tower, and stilted houses are close together and easy to see.
  • It is near Fanjingshan's East Gate, useful for pre- or post-mountain food and lodging.
  • The village lighting is more atmospheric at night than during the day.
  • There are many restaurants and guesthouses, making meals easier than on Fanjingshan.
  • If you happen to catch a holiday event, Dong singing, dancing, or a bonfire can make the stop more interesting.
Insider Tips

Do not treat Zhaisha as a deep ethnic-village experience; it is better as a convenient rest and meal stop.

For early Fanjingshan entry, stay near the village gate or parking area.

Bonfires and folk activities are not guaranteed, so treat them as a bonus.

After rain, wear non-slip shoes on the stone paths.

If you only want to see the architecture, 1-2 hours is enough; stay into the evening if you want dinner and lights.
