Tianjintou and the Zou Tianya boardwalk
Tianjintou is Chengshantou's main sea-view area, with open views on three sides and a landmark stone to photograph. The Zou Tianya boardwalk from Shihuang Temple to Tianjintou is about 1.1 km long and is the coastal section most first-time visitors should walk in full, with cliffs, rocks and wide sea views along the way.
Shihuang Temple and the northern cultural area
Shihuang Temple suits visitors interested in the First Emperor's eastern expedition and local history, and is usually combined with the Zou Tianya boardwalk. The northern Furu Donghai cultural area can be added according to interest; visitors focused on the sea can keep the route around Dongtian Gate, Shihuang Temple and Tianjintou.
Build your day
A two-hour short route
Enter through Dongtian Gate, take the sightseeing bus directly to Tianjintou, then walk back along the coastal boardwalk and visit Shihuang Temple on the way before returning to Dongtian Gate. This route keeps the time around the main sea views and suits visitors who do not plan to enter the northern cultural area.
A 3–4 hour highlights route
Enter through Dongtian Gate, visit Shihuang Temple first, then walk the approximately 1.1 km Zou Tianya boardwalk to Tianjintou. After that, take the sightseeing bus to the northern cultural area, and leave through the north gate or return to Dongtian Gate according to your plan. Strong wind or fog can close the coastal boardwalk and affect the day's order.
Get there
Public transport and driving
From Weihai Coach Station, take the Weihai–Chengshantou Intercity Express Line 4; the journey takes about two hours and services vary by season. A taxi from central Weihai takes a reference 90–120 minutes and costs CNY 90–120; actual travel depends on the day's traffic.
For driving, navigate to “Chengshantou National Key Scenic Area” or “Dongtian Gate Parking Lot.” Enter through Dongtian Gate after parking; the main route can still be completed on foot or by sightseeing bus without buying the additional drive-in service.
Know before you go
Wind, fog and sunrise
The coast can be very windy, and strong wind or fog may close the boardwalk, cableway or other facilities. If you want to see sunrise, plan to arrive around 04:30; actual admission and opening arrangements follow the notice for the day.
Walking, food and extra activities
The coastal boardwalk has uneven sections and steps, so visitors with limited mobility and families using strollers may find it difficult. Bring a windproof layer, sun protection and water in summer. Food choices inside are limited and relatively expensive, while shows such as *Chengshan Fu* require separate tickets and should be planned as optional activities.
