North cableway, tickets and opening hours
The main entrances are Chengshantou Cableway and Motianling Cableway Center Station. The North Line cross-sea cableway is the core experience. The reference one-way North Line ticket is CNY 85 and includes the return shuttle; a park-ticket and North Line package is listed at a reference CNY 120. Opening hours are listed as 08:00–17:00.
Cableway operation depends on strong wind, fog and rain. You can buy tickets ahead in peak periods, but operation still follows the day's arrangements. The cableway experience takes about 1–1.5 hours including the return shuttle; add time for the summit coastal boardwalk and allow about 2–3 hours in total.

North for the sea, south for the mountains
The North Line crosses above the sea and offers views of the water, cliffs and distant islands, so it is the first choice for most first-time visitors. The South Line focuses more on mountain scenery and suits visitors who have already taken the North Line or prefer a mountain view. The cabin can feel hot in summer, and visitors sensitive to height should assess the ride in advance.
The summit coastal boardwalk is for waves, rocks and views towards Hailu Island. Motianling is mainly a North Line cableway and summit sea-view visit; Shihuang Temple and the Zou Tianya boardwalk are at Chengshantou's Dongtian Gate and require a separate visit.
Build your day
A 1–1.5 hour North Line route
Navigate to Chengshantou Cableway Center Station, buy a one-way North Line ticket, ride across the sea to Motianling, then take the return shuttle back to the center. The one-way North Line ticket includes the return shuttle, but check the line and return arrangement when purchasing.
A 2–3 hour sea-view route
Take the North Line cableway up, walk along the summit coastal boardwalk for sea views and distant views of Hailu Island, then return by cableway or shuttle according to the on-site arrangement. At peak times, queues can exceed two hours; a long cableway queue can determine whether you still have time to combine Motianling with Chengshantou or Hailu Island that day.
Get there
Driving and public transport
Navigate to “Chengshantou Cableway Center Station” or “Motianling Scenic Area Parking Lot”; parking is available near the center station. Visitors without a car can take Intercity Bus Route 4 from Weihai Coach Station, get off at Chengshantou or Motianling, and walk to the cableway center.
Check the North Line operating arrangement when entering the center and buy the ticket for an open line. Chengshantou's Dongtian Gate Parking Lot and the Motianling Cableway Center are different entrances, so use the cableway center as the navigation destination.
Know before you go
Queues, weather and cabin temperature
Queues are more likely to grow between 09:00 and 15:00; arrive earlier or later if you want to reduce waiting. Strong wind, fog and rain may stop operations, and the cabin can be hot in summer, so bring water and sun protection.
Height and line choice
The North Line is mainly for sea views and the South Line mainly for mountain views. Visitors sensitive to height or slight swaying should decide whether the ride is suitable before buying a ticket. If weather stops the cableway, treat Motianling as an alternative stop rather than a fixed transfer point.
