Location, entrance and ticket
Dalongqiu Scenic Area is in Yandang Town, Yueqing, Wenzhou. The usual entrance is the main gate of Dalongqiu Scenic Area. The adult ticket costs about CNY 50, with concessionary tickets for students and older adults. No advance booking is required; tickets can be bought on site or online.
Opening hours are usually 06:30–17:00, with last entry around 16:30. The main route follows a stream path to the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion and Dragon Pool. Allow 1–1.5 hours for a short visit and 2–2.5 hours for a first visit at a slower pace.
Who it suits
Dalongqiu suits visitors who want a short waterfall visit in Yandang Mountain, families travelling with older adults or children, and people saving time for other scenic areas. The main route is mostly level, but mist keeps the ground near the waterfall and pool wet, so footwear with good grip matters more than speed.

Dalongqiu Waterfall and Dragon Pool
Dalongqiu Waterfall drops about 197 metres. The Waterfall Viewing Pavilion shows the full height, while the area near Dragon Pool lets you feel the mist and see the stream valley. Recent rainfall and the season affect the water level. The flow may be strong during a wet period and much thinner during a dry one.
Scissor Peak and cliff inscriptions
Scissor Peak near the entrance is best viewed from several points along the path, where the rock shape changes with your angle. The route also includes rhyolite landforms and historic cliff inscriptions. These fit naturally into the main waterfall walk and do not require a long uphill detour.
A suitable pace
When time is limited, focus on Scissor Peak, the shaded path, the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion and Dragon Pool. Photographers may prefer arriving early, when the path is quieter. Families with children should keep them away from wet water edges and deep water, and should not walk on unprotected stream stones.
Build your day
A 1–1.5 hour short route
Enter the scenic area, see Scissor Peak, follow the shaded path to the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion, then stop near Dragon Pool before returning by the same route. This keeps the main viewpoints and suits visitors who plan to continue to Fangdong or Lingyan later in the day.
After rain, mist near the waterfall may be heavy. Shorten the stop at the pavilion or pool if the surface is wet. Stay at viewpoints with barriers rather than moving closer to the water.
A 2–2.5 hour complete route
For a first visit, follow Scissor Peak, the Thousand-Buddha Rock and cliff inscriptions, the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion, Dragon Pool and the lower waterfall path before leaving. The route is mainly a path with gentle slopes, but slow down on wet sections. Actual time depends on crowds, weather and photography stops.
If the water level is low, the park still works as a stop for landforms and forest paths. Starting Dalongqiu first in a Yandang one-day itinerary usually makes it easier to continue by scenic shuttle to Fangdong or Lingyan.
Combining it with Fangdong and Lingyan
For a one-day combination, take the scenic shuttle to Dalongqiu first, then continue to Fangdong and descend through the Woyun Plank Route to Lingyan if your group has the stamina. This order places the farther Dalongqiu first and reduces backtracking, but the Fangdong-to-Lingyan descent still needs energy.
If the water level is poor or someone in your group should avoid a long descent, return after Dalongqiu or switch to a short Lingfeng visit. Each scenic area has its own entrance and closing time; one area’s hours do not replace another’s.
Get there
High-speed rail and resident bus
From Yandangshan Station, take the resident bus towards Dalongqiu. The fare is about CNY 2 per person, and the Dongyuan terminal is within walking distance of the entrance. You can also go to the visitor centre first and buy a scenic shuttle ticket to Dalongqiu.
Driving and holiday transfers
On ordinary days, navigate to the Dalongqiu car park. During holidays, traffic controls may require private cars to stop at the visitor centre and transfer to a scenic bus. Include the queue and transfer time when planning the day.
If you plan to continue to Fangdong or Lingyan, use the scenic shuttle after Dalongqiu. Do not accept temporary vehicles on the car-park road without clear operating information.
Know before you go
Water level and weather
The waterfall’s appearance depends on recent rainfall. From November to April, the flow may be thin; from May to September or after rain, the water is more likely to be fuller. Clear weather does not guarantee a rainbow or mist, so use the actual conditions for photography.
Rain and wet surfaces are common near the waterfall, and mist can wet phones, cameras and clothes. Wear shoes with good grip and carry a light rain jacket or waterproof bag instead of moving closer to the pool for a photograph.
Time and walking
Last entry is around 16:30. If you arrive in the afternoon, enter at least an hour before last entry. The main route uses level paths and gentle slopes, but still needs time for the waterfall, queues and the walk back to the car park.
Visitors who cannot walk far can finish near the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion. Supply points inside the scenic area are limited, so carry water and a small amount of food.
Meals and the next stop
There are simple meals and farm restaurants near the exit; prices and availability vary by day. If you plan to continue to Fangdong, Lingyan or Lingfeng, check the scenic shuttle schedule and each area’s last-entry time before deciding to move on.
