Entrance and ascent options
Fangdong Scenic Area is in Yandang Town, Yueqing, Wenzhou, on the mountainside west of Lingyan Scenic Area. The usual entrance is near the cableway station. Private cars cannot drive directly to the Fangdong entrance. Drivers generally leave their car on the Lingyan side and transfer by scenic minibus, scenic shuttle or cableway.
The Fangdong ticket costs about CNY 40, the Fangdong–Lingyan combination ticket about CNY 80 and the full-area three-day pass about CNY 170–200. The cableway costs about CNY 40 one way or CNY 60 return. No advance booking is required; tickets can be bought on site or online.
Opening hours and suggested time
From May to October, opening hours are usually 07:00–18:20. From November to April, they are usually 07:30–17:00; the season and on-site arrangement may change them. Allow 1.5–2 hours for Fangdong’s main route, 3–3.5 hours for a Fangdong-to-Lingyan route and as much as 5–6 hours for deeper walking.

Cliff path and Yuntian Bridge
The Silver Cliff Corridor follows the mountain wall for about 1,600 metres. Yuntian Bridge is about 108 metres long and hangs between two mountains. These are the sections where you should assess your comfort with height and wind before continuing. Clear weather shows the valley layers, while rain or cloud makes the ground more slippery and visibility less predictable.
Fangdong’s natural cave, cliff path and high viewpoints suit landscape photography. Use the open viewing areas. Do not walk against the flow, stop in a narrow section or approach an unprotected edge for a photograph.
Rest stops and a lighter visit
There are rest and drink points facing the valley along the path. Use them for a short break rather than making a purchase part of the visit. Visitors doing Fangdong only can take the cableway up, walk the Silver Cliff Corridor, Yuntian Bridge and Fangdong Cave, then return by the same route or cableway.
Fangdong suits outdoor walkers, photographers and visitors who want high valley views. Older adults, children and people who are uncomfortable with high bridges can shorten the path and use steadier viewpoints instead of continuing through the full connection route.
Build your day
A 1–2 hour Fangdong short route
Take the cableway or scenic shuttle uphill, stop briefly at a high viewpoint, then walk the Silver Cliff Corridor, Yuntian Bridge and Fangdong Cave before returning by the same route or cableway. This suits visitors with limited time, families with older adults or children, and anyone who mainly wants the cliff scenery.
If you take the resident bus, the stop is Shang Lingyan. You then need to walk about 20–30 minutes or transfer to a minibus costing about CNY 10 to reach the Fangdong entrance. To reduce this walk, confirm whether the scenic shuttle reaches Fangdong directly.
A 3–3.5 hour through-route
Fangdong to Lingyan is the common direction for a combined route. Walk the cliff path and Yuntian Bridge first, descend through the Woyun Plank Route into Lingyan, then continue to the glass walkway, Duanchang Cliff, Xiaolongqiu and Lingyan Temple before leaving through the Lingyan exit. Confirm the Fangdong transfer, the Lingyan performance schedule and the return vehicle before setting out.
Although this route reduces uphill walking, it includes a long descent, bridges and exposed sections. Visitors with old knee injuries, recent leg discomfort or wet-weather conditions should stay with the Fangdong short route or end the through-route before the Woyun Plank Route.
A deeper walking plan
Fit visitors can arrange Fangdong and Lingyan as a continuous half-day or longer walk, allowing about 5–6 hours and confirming the descent method before starting. Do not add many branches at the last minute. In particular, do not enter an unmarked mountain path in search of a shortcut.
Get there
High-speed rail and scenic transport
From Yandangshan Station, go first to the visitor centre and then take the scenic shuttle to Fangdong. The scenic shuttle costs about CNY 40 per person and can be used without a limit for three days. The resident line costs less but usually does not reach the Fangdong entrance directly.
Driving, parking and the cableway
Drivers can leave their car at Lingyan Car Park and use the scenic minibus or cableway to go uphill. Private cars should not continue towards the Fangdong entrance. During holidays, you may first need to park at the visitor centre and transfer there.
The cableway can be bought as a one-way or return trip and helps reduce the uphill walk. It does not replace the paths and bridges inside Fangdong, so choose the route according to your group’s comfort with height and the condition of their knees.
Know before you go
High sections and weather
Fangdong’s high bridges, cliff paths and downhill connection require suitable shoes and steady steps. Strong wind, heavy mist or wet surfaces increase the risk around bridges and edges. Shorten the route when needed, and do not cross a barrier or stand on an unprotected edge.
The downhill route still puts pressure on the knees. A descent is not automatically easy. Knee supports, trekking poles and water help, and visitors with old knee injuries can choose a cableway return or stay with Fangdong’s core section.
Transport boundaries and supplies
After taking the resident bus to Shang Lingyan, you may still need to walk or transfer. The minibus and scenic shuttle do not stop at exactly the same places. Roadside rides are not Fangdong’s fixed transport arrangement; use the scenic connection or arrange a proper return in advance.
There are few supply points inside Fangdong, so bring water and simple food before going uphill. Valley-facing drink points are useful for a short rest, but opening and prices depend on the day.
Return and combined visits
For a Fangdong-to-Lingyan route, the car is usually left on the Lingyan or visitor-centre side. Confirm how you will collect it and return before starting. If you are visiting Fangdong only, return through the original entrance and avoid adding a long connection route close to closing time.
Fangdong, Lingyan, Dalongqiu and Lingfeng have separate tickets and opening boundaries. They can be combined in one or two days, but every entry requires its own plan for the entrance, last entry and your group’s energy.
