Scenic-area scope and entrances

Yandang Mountain Scenic Area is in Yandang Town, Yueqing, Wenzhou. The northern Yandang core generally uses the Yandang Mountain Visitor Service Centre as its transport hub. Lingfeng, Lingyan, Fangdong and Dalongqiu each have a separate entrance, with their own tickets, opening hours and practical ways to visit.

The area consists of several scenic sections. On a first visit, decide whether you want waterfalls, cliff paths, unusual peaks and rocks or night scenery, then choose the matching entrance and transport.

Tickets, opening hours and trip scale

The scenic areas usually sell separate tickets: Lingfeng CNY 45, Lingyan CNY 50, Fangdong CNY 40 and Dalongqiu CNY 50. A Fangdong–Lingyan combination ticket costs about CNY 80, and the full-area three-day ticket costs about CNY 170–200. Whether it is worthwhile depends on how many areas you plan to visit.

The scenic areas generally open between 07:00 and 18:00, with seasonal changes. Dalongqiu and Fangdong can fit into about 4–5 hours. Connecting Dalongqiu, Fangdong, Lingyan and Lingfeng takes a full day; allow two days if you also want Lingfeng’s day and night views or a stop at Zhenji Temple.

Choose your visit

Choosing among the four core areas

Dalongqiu suits visitors who want a tall waterfall and a short walk on mostly level paths. Fangdong focuses on cliff paths, a suspension bridge and valley views. Lingyan is for peaks, Duanchang Cliff and the Lingyan Feidu performance. Lingfeng combines unusual rock formations by day with illuminated rock silhouettes at night.

The four scenic areas have different entrances, and a combination ticket does not create one shared gate. For a half-day visit, Dalongqiu or Lingfeng is easier to complete on its own. The Fangdong-to-Lingyan connection involves a long descent and sustained pressure on the knees.

Choosing a suitable walking style

Yandang Mountain suits outdoor walking, landscape photography, family weekend trips and cooler-weather breaks. Visitors travelling with older adults or anyone with a previous knee injury can focus on Dalongqiu’s main route, Lingfeng’s gentler sections, or use the cableway and scenic transport between Fangdong and Lingyan.

Visitors who want night scenery can plan Lingfeng separately. The rock silhouettes are easier to recognise with interpretation, and the lighting schedule changes with the season and the day. The Lingyan Feidu performance also depends on wind and rain; whether it runs is determined on the day.

Landscapes and cultural stops

Fangdong’s high paths and bridges provide valley views. Lingyan’s Duanchang Cliff, Xiaolongqiu and temple area suit a fuller daytime visit. Dalongqiu centres on the waterfall, stream valley and rhyolite landforms. Lingfeng’s day route includes Hezhang Peak, Guanyin Cave and Guohe Bridge, while the night route uses changing light and viewpoints to reveal rock silhouettes.

Build your day

A half-day route: Dalongqiu and Fangdong

Allow about 4–5 hours. Start with Dalongqiu, which is farther from the transport hub, and spend about 1.5 hours on its main route. Then take the scenic shuttle to Fangdong and allow about two hours for the cliff path and Yuntian Bridge. Return to the visitor centre or your accommodation after both stops. This works for visitors with limited time who are not entering Lingyan.

At Dalongqiu, focus on the Waterfall Viewing Pavilion and Dragon Pool. At Fangdong, keep time for the paths, bridge and valley views. Travel between the two areas using the scenic transport arrangement rather than an informal vehicle.

A one-day route: farther first, then higher to lower

When the weather and your stamina are suitable, take the scenic shuttle to Dalongqiu first, then continue to Fangdong. From Fangdong, descend through the Woyun Plank Route to Lingyan, and use the remaining time for Lingfeng’s day or night view. This order reduces repeated uphill walking, but it is not suitable for every visitor as a complete route.

Although the Fangdong-to-Lingyan section is mostly downhill, the long descent puts pressure on the knees. Visitors with old knee injuries, unsuitable footwear or wet-weather conditions can shorten the route, return from Fangdong or use the cableway and scenic transport for part of the journey.

A two-day plan: separate Lingfeng’s day and night views

On the first day, visit Fangdong and Lingyan in the Fangdong-to-Lingyan direction, then go to Lingfeng for the night view if the evening opening arrangement allows. On the second day, visit Dalongqiu and Lingfeng by day. Zhenji Temple in the deeper part of Lingfeng can be a quiet stop, but ask in advance whether vegetarian meals or tea service are available that day.

If heavy rain, slippery paths or low water at Dalongqiu affects the second day, spend more time on Lingfeng’s daytime route or reduce movement between scenic areas. Each area has its own admission, so leave time for transfers and entry at every stop.

Get there

High-speed rail and public transport

After arriving at Yandangshan Station, transfer near the exit to the free tourist line or the local resident bus. The trip to the visitor centre takes about 10–20 minutes. The resident bus costs about CNY 2 per person and covers many attractions, but it may not stop directly at every scenic-area entrance.

The scenic shuttle costs about CNY 40 per person and can be used without a limit for three days. The local resident bus costs about CNY 2 per person. Fangdong may require a scenic shuttle, mountain minibus or cableway, so the journey from the visitor centre is not the whole transport calculation.

Driving, parking and holiday traffic

On ordinary days, navigate to Xianglingtou Village or the car park for the specific scenic area. During major holidays, traffic controls may require private cars to stop at the visitor centre and transfer to a scenic bus. If you stay in Xianglingtou Village, confirm the parking position with your accommodation in advance.

Private cars cannot reach the Fangdong entrance directly, and the Fangdong–Lingyan connection has its own shuttle arrangements. Use the scenic minibus, scenic shuttle or resident bus when approached by roadside sellers; informal vehicles are not part of the regular scenic transport system.

Know before you go

Weather, water level and changing conditions

Dalongqiu’s water level depends heavily on recent rainfall and the season. The flow may be thin in a dry period. Rain or the wet season can produce a fuller waterfall, but rain also makes paths and stream edges slippery, so balance the scenery with walking safety.

The Lingyan Feidu performance, Lingfeng’s night lighting and scenic shuttle services may change because of wind, rain, the season or on-site arrangements. Leave room for weather changes. If there is strong wind, heavy rain or a closed route, shorten the visit instead of entering wet or exposed sections.

Walking, equipment and food

The Fangdong-to-Lingyan connection is demanding on the knees. Wear shoes with good grip and consider knee supports or trekking poles. Mist near waterfalls and streams can wet phones and other belongings, so use waterproof protection.

There are food options near entrances and popular viewpoints, but prices and supply vary. Carry water and simple food, then eat in Xianglingtou Village or town according to the route. Do not adjust the day around one specific restaurant.

Ticket scope and night visits

The four core areas calculate admission separately, and a combination ticket covers only the listed areas and activities. A Lingfeng daytime ticket does not directly admit you to the night session. Enter the night route during its evening hours, and decide for yourself whether you want interpretation; without it, some silhouettes can be difficult to recognise.
