Entrance, scope and tickets
Lingyan Scenic Area is in Yandang Town, Yueqing, Wenzhou. The usual entrance is the main gate of Lingyan Scenic Area. It connects with Fangdong through the Woyun Plank Route, but the two remain separate scenic areas with separate entrances and tickets.
The Lingyan ticket costs about CNY 50, the Fangdong–Lingyan combination ticket about CNY 80 and the full-area three-day ticket about CNY 170. Lingyan does not require advance booking; tickets can be bought on site or online. Opening hours are usually 06:30–17:40, with last entry around 17:00.
Suggested time
About two hours is enough for the Lingyan Temple area, Xiaolongqiu, Duanchang Cliff and the viewing area for the Feidu performance. For a first visit using the Fangdong-to-Lingyan route, allow 3–4 hours. A deeper walk may take 4–5 hours and requires suitable footwear and stamina.

Lingyan Feidu and the valley
Lingyan Feidu is a high-altitude performance between the peaks, usually viewed from the open area in front of Lingyan Temple. Common reference times are 10:30 and 15:30 on weekdays, and 10:30, 14:00 and 16:00 from Friday to Sunday. Strong wind or heavy rain may cancel it, and the on-site arrangement takes priority over the reference schedule.
Xiaolongqiu, Duanchang Cliff and Lingyan Temple are the main daytime highlights. Duanchang Cliff suits visitors interested in martial-arts filming locations and cliff scenery. Xiaolongqiu depends more heavily on recent rain, so its water flow and mist change with the weather.
The Fangdong-to-Lingyan connection
Entering from Fangdong and descending through the Woyun Plank Route to Lingyan lets you combine the cliff path, bridges, glass walkway, Duanchang Cliff and Xiaolongqiu in one walking line. The direction reduces uphill walking, but the long descent continues to load the knees. Wear shoes with good grip and plan for sustained walking.
Lingyan also works as a short visit from the main gate. Visitors with older adults or children, or those travelling in wet weather, can skip the connection route, use the elevator or return by the same route, and focus on Lingyan Temple, the performance viewing area and Xiaolongqiu.
Suitable visitors
Lingyan suits landscape photographers, outdoor walkers, visitors interested in historic buildings and families who want to see the Feidu performance. High paths, narrow steps and the longer connection route are less suitable for people with limited mobility, so match the route to the group’s actual stamina.
Build your day
A two-hour main-gate route
Enter through the main gate and walk to Lingyan Temple, the Feidu viewing area, Xiaolongqiu and Duanchang Cliff before leaving by the same route. If someone in your group should avoid a long descent, finish near Duanchang Cliff or use the elevator in the Wolong Valley area.
The Feidu performance needs a suitable viewing position. Check the day’s times after arriving, then decide whether to place the other stops before or after the performance. If wind, rain or a temporary cancellation stops the performance, the temple and valley route can still be completed.
A 3–4 hour through-route
Take the scenic shuttle from the visitor centre to the Fangdong entrance. Walk the cliff path and Yuntian Bridge, descend through the Woyun Plank Route into Lingyan, then continue to the glass walkway, Duanchang Cliff, Xiaolongqiu and Lingyan Temple before leaving through the Lingyan exit. Confirm the Fangdong connection and the return transport on the Lingyan side before starting.
The route has a lot of downhill walking, but that does not remove the physical demand. Slow down on bridges, exposed sections and wet surfaces. If your knees hurt, change to a short route at Fangdong or before the Woyun Plank Route.
A deeper walking route
Fit visitors can enter through the Lingyan main gate, continue past Shuangzhu Valley, Tiancong Cave, Longbi Cave, Duxiu Peak, Duanchang Cliff, Xiaolongqiu and the glass walkway, then follow the Woyun Plank Route to Fangdong. The full walk takes about 4–5 hours, after which you still need to arrange your descent and car collection.
Do not add this route just to collect more stops. Bring enough water and confirm the exit shuttle before setting out. If anyone in the group needs frequent rests, the main-gate short route is the safer choice.
Get there
High-speed rail and public transport
From Yandangshan Station, take the free tourist line or the local resident bus, which costs about CNY 2, to Lingyan Car Park. The resident bus does not necessarily reach the Fangdong entrance. The Fangdong-to-Lingyan route normally requires a scenic shuttle or scenic minibus after that.
Driving and scenic shuttles
Drive to Lingyan Car Park, then use the scenic arrangement to transfer to Fangdong. The scenic minibus between Lingyan and Fangdong costs about CNY 10 per person. The scenic shuttle costs about CNY 40 per person and can be used without a limit for three days; the best option depends on the day’s traffic arrangement.
Private cars cannot reach the Fangdong entrance. Do not accept temporary rides offered near the car park. If your car remains on the Lingyan side, use the scenic connection or arrange a proper return before walking.
Know before you go
The performance depends on weather
The reference times for Lingyan Feidu can help you plan the route, but strong wind and heavy rain may cancel the performance. Do not wait for it for a long time on an exposed section. If it is cancelled, continue to the temple, Duanchang Cliff and Xiaolongqiu.
Watching the Feidu performance usually does not require a separate performance ticket, but the admission scope of Lingyan, Fangdong and their combination ticket still needs to be checked separately. Fangdong and Lingyan do not share one entrance.
Steps, bridges and descents
The narrow steps toward Guanyin Cave, the Fangdong-to-Lingyan connection and some exposed bridges all require shoes with good grip and a controlled pace. Visitors with old knee injuries or a fear of heights can choose the Lingyan main-gate route, use the elevator or stop at lower viewpoints.
The glass walkway, Woyun Plank Route and streamside stones may be slippery after rain. Do not cross a barrier or stand on an unprotected edge for a photograph.
Supplies and return transport
There is limited formal dining inside Lingyan. Bring water and simple food, or eat near the exit. After a through-route, collecting your car, returning to the visitor centre and travelling to the next scenic area all take time, so leave a generous margin before closing.
