The lakeside entrance at the foot of the mountain
Wudang Taiji Lake is in the Wudang Tourism Economic Development Zone of Danjiangkou. The main entrance is Taiji Lake Scenic Area · Wudangshan Pier (太极湖景区·武当山码头) beside National Highway 316, about 6 km in a straight line from Wudang Mountains Scenic Area. The lake area is free to enter; cruises, water activities, and performances are purchased separately or arranged according to the day's program.
How much time to allow
The area is open daily from 08:30 to 17:30. A cruise takes about 50 minutes, while prices and boat types range from ordinary tickets to charter products. Allow about 1 hour for the pier and shoreline, or half a day if you add the lakeside path, Shanshui Jie (善水街), or the night-time cultural district.

See the mountain from the water
From the cruise, look toward the foothills of Wudang, Taihe Lou (太和楼), and the giant Laozi statue. The deck is useful for photographing the lake, both shores, and the distant mountains. Clear weather gives better views, while wind and rain can affect navigation and visibility; read the pier's opening notice before boarding.
Taihe Shuyuan (太和书院) and the lakeside spaces
The lakeside path suits an evening walk. In summer, Shanshui Jie (善水街) and Hehua Hu (荷花湖) have lotus flowers and a waterside boardwalk, while the entrance of Taihe Shuyuan (太和书院) gives you architecture and lake scenery in one frame. Taiji Lake is at the foot of the mountain; to reach the Golden Summit or the ancient trails, make a separate trip to the Wudangshan Visitor Center.
Who it suits
Taiji Lake suits families with older visitors or children, visitors who are not planning a long mountain hike, and people who want to rest after climbing. It also works for visitors who enjoy water activities or want to combine natural scenery with an evening cultural district. Age limits, weather restrictions, and operating conditions for kayaks, speedboats, cruises, and Kuailegu (快乐谷) activities follow on-site rules.

The one-hour pier route
Buy the day's boat ticket at Wudangshan Pier, take a cruise of about 50 minutes, and return to the pier; allow about 1 hour in total. Before setting out, check the boat type, departure time, return arrangement, and weather. If cruises are suspended, switch to the lakeside path or cultural-district activities.
The half-day lakeside route
Cruise from the pier → take photos at the entrance of Taihe Shuyuan (太和书院) → walk along the lakeside path → eat and browse at Shanshui Jie (善水街) or the Taiji Zhiye Cultural District (太极之夜文旅街区). Allow about half a day. In summer, add Hehua Hu (荷花湖) and its waterside boardwalk toward evening; confirm the performance time and ticketing separately.
The three- to four-hour quick route
Development-zone visitor center → Wudang Museum, about 1–1.5 hours → Taiji Lake Pier, about 1 hour → Shanshui Jie (善水街) or the Taiji Zhiye Cultural District (太极之夜文旅街区), about 1–1.5 hours. The three sections can be connected by the tourism shuttle. Its fare is CNY5, and outbound and return departures follow the day's notice.
The one-day mountain-and-lake combination
In the morning, choose one or two of Taizipo, Zixiao Palace, and Nanyan. In the afternoon, descend and go to Taiji Lake Pier for a lakeside walk and one water activity. Watch the sunset from the lakeside path, then visit the Taiji Zhiye Cultural District (太极之夜文旅街区) or see the *Wudang Yi Meng* immersive show (《武当一梦》) in the evening. Performances and water activities do not have a fixed guaranteed schedule; confirm them on the day.
The one-and-a-half- to two-day slow itinerary
On the first afternoon, visit the pier, Shanshui Jie (善水街), Hehua Hu (荷花湖), and the waterside boardwalk, then spend the evening in the Taiji Zhiye Cultural District (太极之夜文旅街区) and at a performance before staying at a lakeside resort hotel. On the second morning, choose a wellness or martial-arts experience at the Taihe Yangsheng Center (太和养生中心), then go to the Kuailegu (快乐谷) area for rafting or mountain activities in the afternoon. Rafting, camping, and performances depend on the season, weather, reservations, and same-day opening.

Driving to the pier
Navigate to “Taiji Lake Pier” or “Taiji Lake Scenic Area · Wudangshan Pier (太极湖景区·武当山码头).” Exit the Wudangshan toll gate on the Han–Shi Expressway, turn left, and follow National Highway 316 toward Tuguanya for about 10 minutes. Parking is available at the pier and in the different resort areas; parking is about CNY10–20 per day. Follow on-site signs for current spaces and charging facilities.
The tourism shuttle
The tourism shuttle opened in July 2026 and runs from the development-zone visitor center to Shifu de Shan Homestay (师傅的山民宿), stopping at 15 locations including Wudang Museum, Yuzhen Gong (遇真宫), Xuanyue Men (玄岳门), the lakeside path, and the Taiji Zhiye Cultural District (太极之夜文旅街区). The fare is CNY5 per ride. Current departures are 08:30, 11:00, and 16:00 outbound, with return departures at 09:40, 12:10, and 17:10. The timetable may change, so check the day's notice before leaving. After evening activities, return by car or taxi.
High-speed rail and local buses
A taxi from Wudangshan West Railway Station to Taiji Lake Pier takes about 20 minutes. Alternatively, take the Shi–Wu intercity bus to the square outside Shiyan Railway Station, transfer to Route 206, get off at Wudangshan Pier, and walk about 1.8 km. Journey times on the Xishi High-Speed Railway vary by train, so use the actual service when planning.
Know before you go
Tickets and shuttle times
Taiji Lake itself is free and does not use the mountain entry ticket. Cruises and water activities are purchased separately; confirm the boat type, route, and price through the “Wudangshan Smart Tourism” mini-program or at the pier on the day. The tourism shuttle costs CNY5 and does not use the mountain scenic area's free-ride benefits; its last return follows the day's notice.
Sun, water, and weather
Summer sun is strong around the lake, so bring water, sun protection, and something for shade. Light rain, strong wind, and thunderstorms may affect cruises, speedboats, or rafting. Confirm the activity's opening through the phone line or the “Wudangshan Smart Tourism” mini-program before setting out; if sailing is suspended, use an open shoreline or cultural-district activity.
Combining nearby stops
Taiji Lake can be combined with Wudang Museum, Yuxu Palace, Yuzhen Gong (遇真宫), and Xuanyue Men (玄岳门) as a foot-of-the-mountain itinerary. Wudang Mountains Scenic Area is about 6 km away, Canglang Hai Tourism Harbor (沧浪海旅游港) is about 15 minutes by car, and Danjiangkou Dam (丹江口大坝) is about 40 minutes by car. Fish banquets and farmhouse-style food are available near Shanshui Jie (善水街) and the pier; check the menu and price before ordering. If you also plan to enter the mountain, confirm the visitor center's real-name ticketing, Golden Summit reservation, and shuttle time first.
