What the cableway connects
The Wudang Mountain Cableway connects Qiongtai Zhongguan on the mountainside with the Golden Summit direction. Its lower station is at Qiongtai. From the Wudangshan Visitor Center, visitors generally take the scenic shuttle and transfer at Taizipo for Qiongtai according to the day's vehicle schedule. The ride takes about 10 minutes, but the upper station is not the Golden Summit entrance or endpoint.
Price and walking after the ride
From 16 July 2026, the cableway is CNY45 one way or CNY85 round trip. The cableway ticket does not include the entry ticket, scenic shuttle, or the Golden Summit/Zixiao Palace pass; purchase these items separately. There are still about 30–60 minutes of steps from the upper station to the Golden Summit, including some steep sections.

The easier way to the Golden Summit
The cableway suits visitors with limited time, visitors who want to reduce the continuous climb from Nanyan, and groups with different stamina levels. You still need to walk steps from the upper station to the Golden Summit, so the cableway handles the long mountain connection rather than removing the final climb.
Views between Qiongtai and the summit
During the ride, you can see the changing slopes and valleys from the mountainside. At the Golden Summit, look for the Golden Hall, clouds, and the summit buildings. Sunrise and cloud views depend strongly on the weather; photography also needs to account for the reservation slot, cableway operation, and summit crowds.
Choose the right combination
For a quick Golden Summit return, take the cableway both ways. To combine transport with hiking, take the cableway up and the ancient trail down. Visitors who want to hike the entire way should start from Nanyan. The cableway ticket, mountain entry ticket, and scenic shuttle ticket are separate, so check the order contents against the planned route.

Build your day
The four- to five-hour return route
Visitor center → transfer at Taizipo → Qiongtai → cableway up → walk to the Golden Summit → cableway down → transfer to the scenic shuttle at Qiongtai → visitor center. Allow about 4–5 hours. Confirm the Golden Summit timed reservation first, then include the Qiongtai queue and the steps above the upper station in your time plan.
The seven- to eight-hour combination route
Visitor center → Taizipo → Qiongtai → cableway up → Golden Summit → descend along the Qing Divine Way to Nanyan → take the scenic shuttle to Zixiao Palace → return to the visitor center. Allow about 7–8 hours. At Nanyan and Zixiao Palace, follow the open areas and route signs on the day.
The hiking alternative
If you do not take the cableway, take the scenic shuttle from the visitor center to Nanyan and hike up the ancient trail to the Golden Summit. The pure ancient-trail ascent from Nanyan or Wuyaling takes about 2–4 hours, excluding the Nanyan Palace visit, queues, breaks, transfers, and return journey. For the return, walk down from the summit or transfer to the cableway if conditions allow; do not assume a cableway service will be available without checking.

Reaching the lower station at Qiongtai
From Wudangshan West Railway Station, take Route 301 or a taxi to the Wudangshan Visitor Center. From Shiyan Wudangshan Airport, take the airport shuttle to the scenic area. Inside the scenic area, take the shuttle to Taizipo, follow the station signs for Qiongtai, and then walk to the cableway ticket and inspection area.
Moving through the station area
Qiongtai Zhongguan is the cableway's lower station and a transfer point on the mountain. Complete ticketing, queuing, boarding, and the walk after the upper station along the on-site route. There are continuous steps from the upper station to the Golden Summit; with older visitors or children, check the day's weather and the group's stamina first.

Reservations and purchase
Golden Summit/Taihe Palace use real-name timed reservations, normally made at least one day ahead. On statutory holidays lasting three days or more, successfully reserve the Golden Summit/Taihe Palace before buying the cableway ticket. The cableway is CNY45 one way or CNY85 round trip; check the purchase page to see whether any other ticket item is included in the order.
Operating hours, queues, and closures
Cableway operating hours and last up/down departures change with the season, weather, crowds, and equipment dispatch; there is no single year-round fixed timetable. Confirm the arrangements on the day at 0719-5689877. If wind, rain, or a temporary closure affects the cableway, follow on-site instructions and use an open route.
Steps and the return
The walk from the upper station to the Golden Summit takes about 30–60 minutes and may be slippery after rain, so wear shoes with good grip and carry rain protection. After descending to Qiongtai, you still need to transfer to the scenic shuttle.
