Entrances, scope and time

Huishan Ancient Town and Jichang Garden is in Huishan District at Huishan Hengjie, with Jichang Garden and the Huishan Ancient Town Cultural Relics Area as its main focus. The south gate, also called Qin Garden Gate, is the easiest entrance from the old-town main street; Guhua Mountain Gate is close to Xihui Park and works well if the park is already part of your plan. First-time visitors should allow 1.5–2 hours for Jichang Garden, while 40–60 minutes is enough for the main water features on a quick visit.

Tickets, booking and entry rules

Jichang Garden requires the CNY 70 Cultural Relics Area combination ticket, which also includes Huishan Temple and the Second Spring Under Heaven; the separate CNY 10 Xihui Park ticket does not allow entry to Jichang Garden. The area generally opens from 08:00 to 17:30, with last entry at 17:00. No advance reservation is required, and the ticket can be bought on site; the combination ticket is valid for one entry only, so leaving the area ends that visit. From June 19 to August 31, 2026, visitors from outside Wuxi who can show a flight or high-speed rail ticket arriving in Wuxi within the previous five days may be eligible for a discounted ticket of about CNY 49 at the ticket window. Borrowed views, spring water and the pond

Jichang Garden is best known for Jinhuiyi Pond, Zhiyu Threshold, Bayin Ravine and Seven-Star Bridge. Jinhuiyi Pond brings the pavilions, rockeries, Huishan and the distant Longguang Pagoda into one view; Zhiyu Threshold is a good place to sit beside the water and look out toward the pagoda, while Bayin Ravine uses the valley and spring water to create a continuous soundscape.

Who it suits

Garden and photography enthusiasts should look for the borrowed views of Longguang Pagoda from Jiashu Hall and Xianyue Pavilion, as well as the reflections around Seven-Star Bridge on a calm day. The garden has relatively few steps and mostly even paths, so older visitors and children can take it slowly; vegetation is dense in summer, so bring mosquito repellent, and some dark or uneven areas such as Bayin Ravine may close during summer night activities.

Build your day

A 1.5–2-hour garden route

Enter through the south gate and follow the route through Fenggu Xingwo, Bingli Hall, Hanzhen Studio, Bayin Ravine, Jiashu Hall, Seven-Star Bridge, Zhiyu Threshold and Xianyue Pavilion, then return toward the entrance. The route generally moves clockwise along the left side of the garden and includes the main water views and borrowed-view spots, so following it helps reduce backtracking.

A 40–60-minute quick route

From the south gate, go directly to Jinhuiyi Pond, pause at Zhiyu Threshold, and leave in the direction of the northwest gate via Woyun Hall. This is useful if you also plan to visit Huishan Temple or Xihui Park; the garden and the surrounding attractions have separate opening times and ticket rules, so there is no need to rush through every path.

Get there

Metro and walking

Take Wuxi Metro Line 4 to Huishan Ancient Town Station. From Exit 6, walk along Huishan Zhijie and Hengjie for about 5–10 minutes to the south gate of Jichang Garden. Buses 4, 15, 43, 66, 75, 81, 83, 126, 139, 158, 207, 316, 610, 611, 766 and Kuai 6 also stop at Huishan.

Driving and the connecting gate

Parking around the scenic area is inconvenient. Drivers are better off using a confirmed public parking lot near a metro station and continuing by metro. If you have already visited Xihui Park, you can connect through Guhua Mountain Gate; the south gate of Jichang Garden is the simpler choice for a first visit focused on the garden and the cultural relics area.

Know before you go

Free streets and paid areas

The free streets of Huishan Ancient Town, the Cultural Relics Area containing Jichang Garden and Xihui Park have different entry permissions. The CNY 70 combination ticket covers Jichang Garden, Huishan Temple and the Second Spring Under Heaven, while the CNY 10 Xihui Park ticket covers only the park area. Choose the ticket after deciding which areas you actually want to enter.

One-time entry, weather and food

Because the combination ticket becomes invalid after you leave, decide before entry whether Huishan Temple and the Second Spring Under Heaven should be included. Summer brings many insects, and stone surfaces and some paths can be slippery after rain; nearby options include Erquan Yuan Old Restaurant and Xilongji in Yingyue Li for Wuxi-style dishes or xiaolongbao after the visit.
