Site scope, entrance and time

Lingshan Scenic Area is at No. 18 Guzhu Road, Mashan Town, Wuxi. Its main landmark is the 88-meter Lingshan Grand Buddha, and the park also includes Jiulong Guanyu, Xiangfu Zen Temple, Lingshan Brahma Palace and the Five Seals Altar City. Visitors usually enter through the South Gate and leave through the designated exit on a one-way route. First-time visitors should allow 4–5 hours; a compact visit can fit into 2–3 hours if time or stamina is limited.

Tickets, booking and opening hours

The adult ticket is CNY 210 onsite, or about CNY 195 when booked online one day in advance. Discounted tickets are about CNY 105 for visitors aged 60–69, students and teachers. Visitors aged 70 and above, children under 1.4 meters, active-duty military personnel and visitors with disabilities can enter free of charge. Use the official “Wuxi Lingshan Scenic Area” WeChat account or mini program for real-name booking, then enter directly with your ID card. Choose your visit

The Buddha, Jiulong Guanyu and Buddhist architecture

Lingshan Grand Buddha is the park’s main sight. You can climb 218 steps to the Buddha’s feet, or take the elevator up and join the “hug the Buddha’s feet” experience on the platform, with views over Taihu Lake and the surrounding hills. Jiulong Guanyu is a large musical fountain; after the performance, you can continue to the Eight Virtues Water. Xiangfu Zen Temple, the Brahma Palace and the Five Seals Altar City offer different experiences of a temple, an indoor art building and Tibetan-style architecture.

Who this visit suits

The full route suits visitors interested in Buddhist culture, architecture, sculpture and expansive landscaped spaces. Older visitors and families with children can use the sightseeing vehicle and choose the elevator for the Buddha’s feet experience. Photographers should look for Fo Shou Plaza, the mist from Jiulong Guanyu, reflections around the Five Seals Altar City and distant views from the Buddha’s feet platform.

Build your day

A complete route for about 4–5 hours

Enter through the South Gate and continue to Jiulong Guanyu, the “World’s No. 1 Palm” at Fo Shou Plaza, Xiangfu Zen Temple, Lingshan Grand Buddha, the Brahma Palace and the Five Seals Altar City before leaving through the exit. Adjust the Jiulong Guanyu performance to the day’s schedule. At the Buddha area, decide between the stairs and elevator based on the queue, then leave enough time for the Brahma Palace and Five Seals Altar City.

A compact route for about 2–3 hours

After entering, take the sightseeing vehicle to the “Buddha Station,” visit Lingshan Grand Buddha and the Buddha’s feet platform, make a quick visit to the Brahma Palace, then take the vehicle toward the exit. This suits visitors with limited time or stamina, but the Brahma Palace’s indoor route and the Five Seals Altar City usually require choosing one. Use the half-day route if you want to see several areas in full.

Get there

From Wuxi Railway Station by bus

After leaving Wuxi Railway Station, walk for about 10–15 minutes and follow the station signs for buses to Lingshan Scenic Area and Nianhua Bay. Leyou Route 2 costs CNY 10 and takes about 90 minutes directly to the scenic area. Routes 88 and 89 cost CNY 2 and take about one hour, but can be crowded during peak periods.

Driving and parking

For driving, navigate to the Lingshan Scenic Area South Gate Parking Lot. Parking costs about CNY 15 per day. On weekends and public holidays, arrive before 09:00 to reduce entrance queues and avoid possible traffic controls. The route is one-way, so plan to leave through the designated exit rather than trying to return to the South Gate.

Know before you go

The Buddha’s feet, performances and walking intensity

During public holidays, the queue for the Buddha’s feet experience can exceed 1.5 hours. The elevator only goes up; leaving the platform still involves walking down steps, so older visitors and children should decide whether to go up based on their stamina. The original Brahma Palace performance “Auspicious Ode” has been suspended for a long period because of theatre upgrades and other reasons. Plan around the projects operating that day instead of visiting specifically for this performance.

Sun protection, incense and food

Outdoor areas can be very sunny in summer, with limited shade. Bring enough drinking water and use sun protection. Xiangfu Zen Temple provides environmentally friendly incense free of charge, so there is no need to buy expensive incense and candles at the entrance. The second floor of the Brahma Palace has a vegetarian buffet for about CNY 60 per person and vegetarian noodles for about CNY 35 per bowl. Farm restaurants in Mashan Town outside the park also serve Taihu Lake’s “Three Whites” and Wuxi-style sauced spare ribs.
