Choose your visit

A one-way route through five halls

The cave has five halls: Human World, Heaven, Underworld, Dragon Palace, and Maze. Each hall features different cave formations. Follow the marked one-way route through all halls and exit at the end rather than retracing the route.

Sky-reaching Column, stone draperies, and the Dragon Palace pool

The Human World Hall features the Sky-reaching Column and net-like, curled calcite formations. Heaven Hall is larger, with stone draperies and cave flowers. Dragon Palace Hall has an underground stream and pool whose surface reflects the cave formations. Other sights include the Jade Dragon Piercing the Sky stone drapery, the Hundred-leaf stone drapery, hollow soda-straw formations, and the Milky Way Waterfall.

Follow a guide to the highlights

Free guided tours are organized at the ticket checkpoint. To focus on the representative formations, join a guide along the one-way route and pay particular attention to the Human World, Heaven, and Dragon Palace halls. The other halls are on the same route, so no backtracking is needed.

Build your day

From the hillside entrance through the cave

Walk up from the parking area to the cave entrance halfway up the mountain, using the steps or escalator. After the ticket check, follow the one-way route through all five halls and leave through the exit. Allow about 1.5–2 hours. Follow staff and guide instructions through narrow sections.

Add Tiantai Mountain with a combined ticket

If you buy a combined cave and Tiantai Mountain ticket, take the shuttle between the two scenic areas after visiting the cave. The ticket covers two separate areas; Tiantai Mountain is not part of the cave route. Whether you can visit both in one day depends on each area’s opening hours and your return transport.

Photos and guided tours

Reflections in the pool, stone draperies, and stalactites under colored lighting are the main photo subjects. Flash photography is prohibited inside the cave. Free guided tours depart from the ticket checkpoint at set times; ask there whether a tour is about to start.

Get there

Driving and parking

Navigate to “Kongshan Baiyun Cave Parking Lot.” The drive takes about one hour from downtown Xingtai and about 1.5 hours from Shijiazhuang. Official parking costs about CNY 5 per day. If someone directs you to roadside parking, first confirm that it is an official parking area.

Public transport

Take tourist Bus 916 from Xingtai Central Bus Station. In Shijiazhuang, take a coach from the main intercity bus terminal (客运总站) to Lincheng, then transfer to a local bus or taxi to the scenic area. Service and return times are not listed here, so arrange the return trip in advance when using local buses or intercity coaches.

Know before you go

Slippery steps and cool cave conditions

The cave stays at about 17°C with high humidity, and the floor can be slippery. Wear shoes with good grip and bring a light jacket. There are narrow, steep steps around Dragon Palace and Maze halls; take care with young children and older visitors with limited mobility. There are also steps up to the mid-mountain entrance, with an escalator as an alternative.

Ticket types, parking, and photos

Gate tickets, online discounts, and combined tickets can differ considerably in price and inclusions. Before leaving, confirm the date, eligibility, and shuttle coverage for the ticket you plan to use. Official parking is about CNY 5 per day; avoid unofficial roadside parking solicitors.

Water and nearby food

There is no shop inside the cave, so bring drinking water. Daguocai (大锅菜), a hearty mixed stew, is about CNY 15 per serving in the scenic area. Nearby restaurants serve Lincheng cured-meat noodles. To visit Tiantai Mountain, follow the shuttle arrangement for the combined ticket.
