Red-stone courtyards and lanes
Many village houses are built from local red quartz sandstone. The East Gate, One House and Nine Courtyards, Guihe Hall, and Zhonghe Hall show the layout of the old courtyards. The Bridge House spans a lane, and the hidden spring is a small feature tucked inside the village. The West Fort viewpoint looks over the village and valley.
Former Jinan Bank site and village history
Yingtan once served as a base for revolutionary activity. The former Jinan Bank site and other sites dating from the Second Sino-Japanese War can be visited alongside the old courtyards. The short route mainly follows the main lane to the West Fort viewpoint. The longer route adds courtyards such as Guihe Hall and Zhonghe Hall, the former bank site, and time to explore the lanes. Visitors interested in traditional buildings, village photography, and local history may want a longer stay. Stone lanes and red-stone walls work well for architectural details; the West Fort viewpoint is suited to wider views.

Build your day
The 40–60-minute short route
Enter through the East Gate and see the gate and the Ancient Stone Hall, then follow the main lane past the Bridge House and hidden spring to the West Fort viewpoint. Return the same way. This route links representative sights along the main lane and suits a brief visit.
The 2–3-hour courtyard and historic-site route
Enter through the East Gate and start with courtyards such as Guihe Hall and Zhonghe Hall, then visit the former Jinan Bank site. Walk slowly along the stone lanes, look for the hidden spring, and finish at the West Fort viewpoint for the sunset. Before leaving, follow on-site signs to confirm which exit is open.
Staying into the evening
Guesthouses in the village, such as Banshan Yunshe, are options for an overnight stay. Staying overnight lets visitors see the village lights in the evening and the village again in the morning. Datiehua (打铁花), a traditional molten-iron fireworks performance, and bonfire parties are not held every day; check the schedule and the time you must leave the village if planning an evening visit. Reference closing time is 20:30.
Get there
Driving and parking
Navigate to “Yingtan Ancient Village Visitor Center.” The drive from downtown Xingtai takes about 1–1.5 hours. Parking is about CNY 5–10 per visit. Spaces can be limited on public holidays, so consider arriving early, parking at the visitor center, and continuing to the village entrance.
Bus and uphill transfer
Buses go to Luolu Town, but transport for the final leg from town to the village is limited. Arrange a transfer or return ride before setting out. If taking the bus and staying for the evening, arrange a vehicle in advance for the trip back to Luolu Town. The village entrance is about 3 km uphill from the visitor center. Walking time varies with the gradient and your pace. The round-trip sightseeing shuttle is about CNY 15.
Know before you go
Stone lanes, steps, and holiday queues
The stone-paved lanes are uneven, and steps connect the courtyards and viewpoints. Wear flat shoes with good grip.
Ticket checks and the shuttle may have long queues on public holidays. Watch for uneven paving and other visitors when taking photos in the lanes. Some exhibition rooms may be closed; confirm their opening status in advance if a historic-site exhibition is a priority.
Food and photo-related spending
Village farm restaurants serve stone-ground tofu, eggs with mountain vegetables, freshly baked walnut cakes, and daguocai (大锅菜), a hearty mixed stew. Traditional-style clothing rental is about CNY 79–160; check the outfit and price before renting. Yingtan Ancient Village and Xingtai Grand Canyon are separate attractions; check the route and return transport before planning both on the same day.
