Choose your visit
Kangda Exhibition Hall and historic sites
The Kangda Exhibition Hall, former campus sites, and memorial monument form the scenic area’s section on revolutionary history and suit an educational visit. Walking routes connect the historic sites with the mountain ecology area; choose the order based on how long you plan to stay at each.
Chestnut King and Wanbang Rare Fruit Garden
The large chestnut grove includes the Chestnut King, a tree said to be about 2,500 years old. Wanbang Rare Fruit Garden follows the terraced fields and brings together different fruit trees. The characters meaning “restore the beautiful landscape” can be seen on the mountainside.
Waterfall, steep gorge, and family activities
Huashan Waterfall has a drop of about 110 m. Some steps in Lian Dan Gorge are very steep. The mountain activities include a glass walkway, a high-altitude zipline, and rafting on a course about 1,300 m long. The outdoor children's play area at the foot of the mountain is suitable for children. If you are with older adults or young children, treat Lian Dan Gorge as an optional section.
Build your day
The 1.5–2-hour cableway route
Take the sightseeing shuttle from the visitor center to the Chestnut King, then walk to the cableway station and ride up. Enjoy the view from the upper station platform; if your stamina allows, continue to the summit and Wenchang Pavilion before returning the same way. This short route reduces uphill walking and suits visitors short on time or families whose members cannot manage a long hike.
The 4–5-hour history and mountain route
Start at the Kangda Exhibition Hall and historic sites, then walk to Wanbang Rare Fruit Garden and the chestnut grove. Take the cableway uphill, visit Huashan Waterfall and Lian Dan Gorge along the way, then continue to Wenchang Pavilion and Zhuangyuan Bridge before returning downhill to the visitor center.
Combining rides and walking sections
The sightseeing shuttle, cableway, and rafting serve different sections. Check the day’s ticket details to see whether the glass walkway, zipline, and rafting are included. The full route links the historic sites, orchards, waterfall, and summit. Visitors can skip or shorten the steep steps in Lian Dan Gorge depending on their group’s stamina.
Get there
Driving, Kangda Road, and parking
The drive from downtown Xingtai takes about 1.5 hours. Navigate to “Qiannanyu Eco-Tourism Area Visitor Center.” Parking is about CNY 10 per visit. You can drive into the inner parking area to reduce the walk; Kangda Road is the mountain approach.
Bus and transfer from town
Take a coach bound for Jiangshui Town from Xingtai Bus Station or Xingxi Bus Station. Buses from downtown Xingtai are limited. From Jiangshui Town, transfer to local transport or walk to the scenic area. Xingtai has no subway. Check both outbound and return services before relying on public transport.
Know before you go
Steep steps, cableway, and weather
Some steps in Lian Dan Gorge are very steep. If traveling with older adults or children, consider taking the cableway and skipping that section. Wear shoes with good grip, and bring a light jacket because temperatures can vary in the mountains. Bring a change of clothes for summer rafting and insect repellent for the mountain paths.
Water levels and food
Streams and waterfalls may have little water; the flow at Huashan Waterfall varies by season. Restaurants and farm restaurants in the scenic area serve meals; check prices before ordering. Erlei Fish Restaurant near the foot of the mountain specializes in sturgeon and grilled fish.
Photos and closing time
Kangda historic sites, chestnut grove, and summit viewpoints are all good photo stops. If you plan to stay into the evening, first confirm the day’s cableway schedule and the scenic area’s closing time.
