Tianhe Mountain is a national 4A-rated scenic area in the north of Qingquan Village, Baian Township, Xindu District. Enter through the Han-style gate tower at the entrance marked “Tianhe Mountain”; a large parking lot is beside it. The short loop takes about 2–3 hours and covers Love Square, Heart Cave, the Glass Magpie Bridge, and Yuelao Peak (月老峰), named after Yuelao, the traditional Chinese deity of marriage. The longer waterside route through Tianhe Lake, the waterfall group, and Lovers’ Valley takes about 4–5 hours. Opening hours are 08:00–18:00; last entry is usually around 17:00.
Tickets and add-on activities
The reference adult ticket price is CNY 70 in peak season and CNY 50 from December through February. Love-themed sights and legends
The scenic area takes its theme from the legend of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl. Love Square has a large heart-shaped lock and a “love wall,” suitable for portraits and detail shots throughout the day. Heart Cave is a naturally formed heart-shaped rock cave that works well for silhouette photos. Yuelao Peak is a viewpoint on the route.
Waterfalls, gorge, and glass bridge
The Jiutian Yinhe Waterfall Group is spread along the mountain path; spray is more visible when water levels are higher in summer. Lovers’ Valley is another waterside stretch on the long route. The Glass Magpie Bridge is a suspension bridge with views over the Taihang mountain valley.
Choose activities for your group
Couples and friends can focus on Love Square, Heart Cave, and the Glass Magpie Bridge. On the short route, the shuttle takes visitors to the trailhead, reducing the amount of walking. The longer waterside route climbs past Tianhe Lake, the waterfalls, and Lovers’ Valley, with more steps and a greater physical demand. Families, especially those with children aged 3–10, can choose the short route based on everyone’s stamina. Bring a change of clothes if rafting in summer.
For a separate visit to Xingtai’s stone-built historic village, see Yingtan Ancient Village.
Build your day
The 2–3-hour core-sights route
Enter through the Han-style gate tower and start at Love Square. Take the sightseeing shuttle to the trailhead, then visit Heart Cave, the Glass Magpie Bridge, and Yuelao Peak before returning. This short route focuses on the love-themed sights.
The 4–5-hour waterside route
From the entrance, go to Love Square and then Tianhe Lake. Follow the water uphill past the Jiutian Yinhe Waterfall Group and Lovers’ Valley to Heart Cave and the Glass Magpie Bridge, then climb Yuelao Peak. Return downhill by the slide or on foot. Follow the route in sequence without doubling back, and allow extra time for the climb and descent.
Waterside route and shuttle
The sightseeing shuttle only connects the main gate and trailhead. Visitors taking the long route still need to walk from the trailhead along the waterside path to Yuelao Peak.
Get there
Driving and parking
Navigate to “Xingtai Tianhe Mountain Scenic Area.” From the Luolukou exit on the Xingfen Expressway, follow the Pingshe Line for about 20 km. There is a parking lot at the entrance; parking is about CNY 10 per day.
Public transport and shuttle inside the scenic area
Bus 601, the tourist service from Xingxi Bus Station, goes to the entrance. The ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs about CNY 8–20 one way. Check the day’s service and return options before boarding. At the entrance, take the sightseeing shuttle to the trailhead if needed.
Know before you go
Heart Cave queues and photo timing
Heart Cave is a popular photo stop and may have long queues on public holidays. To reduce waiting, consider visiting soon after opening. Morning light is suitable for silhouettes at the cave entrance and for photos on the Glass Magpie Bridge.
Steps, rain, and rafting
The waterside route has steep steps, and some sections require using both hands and feet. Paths are slippery in rain; assess this stretch carefully if you are with older adults or children. Rafting will get your clothes wet, so bring a change of clothes and a waterproof phone pouch.
Meals and on-site spending
Farm restaurants outside the scenic area serve dishes such as free-range chicken stewed with mushrooms and daguocai (大锅菜), a hearty mixed stew. If you encounter paid fortune-telling or prayer services inside the scenic area, confirm the price before taking part.
