How to Visit
1

First separate the geopark from the museum and protection hall

Xingyi Global Geopark is a broad geopark concept, including peak forests, canyons, fossils, and karst resources. For visitors, the most practical places are Guizhou Dragon Geopark Museum and Guizhou Dragon Fossil In-situ Protection Hall.

Tip:Do not understand it as one scenic area with a single gate and a single route. That will make navigation and planning confusing.
2

Note that the Wusha museum is temporarily closed

Since April 8, 2026, Xingyi Global Geopark Museum in Wusha has been temporarily closed, with reopening time to be announced later. During the closure, Guizhou Dragon Fossil In-situ Protection Hall, about 4 km away, remains available, and study activities such as fossil-fragment collection, fossil restoration, Guizhou Dragon rubbing, and fossil model making can continue.

Tip:For now, the in-situ protection hall should be treated as the more reliable practical visit point. Do not write the Wusha museum as the normal main route.
3

If the museum reopens, combine fossil viewing with a hands-on activity

The Guizhou Dragon Geopark Museum visitor notice lists free access to the exhibits and normal hours of 09:00-17:00. When it is open, a good route is to see the fossil displays first, then go to the in-situ protection hall for a fossil activity.

Tip:The museum and the in-situ protection hall are not the same place. There are several kilometers between them, so taxi or self-driving is easier.
4

Best for families and geology interest, not as a substitute for natural scenery

The value here is science, fossils, and study activities, not a large scenic view like Wanfenglin. It suits families with children, geology fans, or travelers who want to understand Xingyi's landforms. If you mainly want scenery, give more time to Wanfenglin and Maling River Canyon.

Tip:If you only have one day, do not place it ahead of Wanfenglin or Maling River Canyon.
Highlights
  • Xingyi Global Geopark helps connect Wanfenglin, Maling River Canyon, fossil resources, and karst landforms into one wider background.
  • Guizhou Dragon displays and the in-situ protection hall are good for family science learning, not just photos.
  • During the Wusha museum closure, the in-situ protection hall remains the practical visit option.
  • Fossil-fragment collection, restoration, rubbing, and model-making activities can work as a half-day study experience.
  • If you later visit Wanfenglin and Maling River Canyon, understanding the geology first can make the landscapes easier to read.
Insider Tips

Do not navigate only to "Xingyi Global Geopark." Be clear whether you mean the museum, the in-situ protection hall, or geological landscapes such as Wanfenglin and Maling River.

During the Wusha museum closure, do not follow old guides that send you directly there.

The in-situ protection hall activities suit children, but hammering, rubbing, and restoration should follow on-site staff instructions.

Do not touch fossil exhibits. If visiting with children, explain this rule before entering.

If your group is not interested in geology, shorten this stop, keep only the in-situ activity, or skip it.
