Take a taxi from central Xining to No. 7 Xishan First Alley, using 'Plateau Pearl' or 'Puning Pearl' as the destination. You can also follow a map app to a nearby Xishan First Alley stop and walk uphill. Ticket prices, opening times, and seasonal arrangements differ across ticketing listings, so do not plan around a fixed price or closing time; buy only a ticket type and entry time shown as available for that day.
Tip:The hillside road and entrance can add time compared with central-city stops. Arrive 20-30 minutes before your planned ascent.

Go up and use the viewing level efficiently
Pass security, take the lift to the viewing level as directed, then make one full circuit around the observation windows before visiting other open areas in the tower. The main view covers central Xining, the Huangshui River, and the surrounding mountains. Allow 45-90 minutes. To see both daylight and night views, go up around 45 minutes before sunset.
Tip:Lift queues, access to viewing areas, and the availability of dining spaces can change during the day. Do not rely on the rotating restaurant as a guaranteed meal plan.

Respond to weather and leave safely
Judge visibility, wind, and your return transport before going up; shorten or cancel the visit if conditions are poor. Xining's evening temperatures drop quickly, so bring a light layer for a sunset visit. Low cloud, dust, strong wind, or operational changes can greatly reduce the value of the view.
Tip:If the viewing level is closed, do not wait on the hill for long. Return to the city for a meal or another indoor activity, and use a taxi after dark.
