Travel to the museum and prepare before entry

Take a taxi from central Xining, or use buses to the Biological Park residential area or Biological Park Road Junction, then walk to No. 21 Jing'er Road. Xining has no metro that goes directly to the museum. Morning is the easiest time to visit, especially for a rainy-day, family, or low-walking half-day plan. Open the ticketing page in advance to see whether tickets and entry times are available.

Complete the entry process

At the entrance, confirm that day's ticket type, document check, and luggage arrangements before entering the galleries. Published reopening information lists hours as 09:00-17:00, with ticket sales ending at 16:30. Current adult prices, child concessions, and luggage-storage arrangements have not been confirmed with sufficient certainty to plan around a fixed amount.

Follow a nature-focused exhibition route

Start with the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Qinghai landscape models, then visit the animal and plant specimens, followed by mineral crystals and interactive displays. Seeing the landform and ecology overview first makes the snow leopard, Tibetan fox, and other specimens easier to understand. Allow 2-3 hours for a standard visit, with extra time for family activities if available.

Manage time and temporary changes

Treat 16:00 as a practical latest arrival time and ask about any temporary gallery closures when you enter. The museum has recently resumed operations, so gallery availability, guided tours, and ticketing arrangements may still change. If you arrive late, decide first whether there is enough time for the three core sections.
