Location and entry point
The Luofang Conference Site is in Luofang Town, Yushui District, Xinyu. The main entry and visitor hub is Luofang Conference Memorial Museum in Pengjiazhou; use the museum as the first stop because the wider attraction is a group of sites spread across the town.

Admission is free, but entry requires registration with an identity document. The site is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00–17:00, and closed on Mondays. Free guided tours must be booked in advance at 0790-6741019, and a walk-in tour is not guaranteed.
How long to allow
Allow about 1 hour for Luofang Conference Memorial Museum and its “兴国调查” (Xingguo Investigation) exhibition. To add Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, the Xingguo Investigation Meeting Former Site, and Zeng Shan’s Former Residence, allow 2–3 hours; the sites require short walks or drives between separate locations.

The memorial museum
The museum’s reconstructed meeting room and “兴国调查” (Xingguo Investigation) exhibition introduce the background of the 1930 Luofang Conference and the investigation work associated with it. It is the best starting point for a short visit and gives the wider site group a clear historical frame.
Former residences and meeting sites
Mao Zedong’s Former Residence is at Chenjianao (陈家闹), while the Xingguo Investigation Meeting Former Site and the Former Site of the Jiangxi Provincial Soviet Government (Zeng Shan’s Former Residence) preserve local houses and historical settings. Seeing these places in person adds the scale of meetings, field investigation, and daily life to the museum visit.
The camphor tree and who it suits
The route can include a thousand-year-old camphor tree for a short outdoor stop and photographs of its trunk, branches, and village surroundings. The site suits visitors interested in modern Chinese history and local revolutionary history, as well as student groups and teams arranging on-site teaching; guided tours require advance booking.

Memorial museum short route: about 1 hour
Register at Luofang Conference Memorial Museum, see the reconstructed meeting room, and follow the “兴国调查” (Xingguo Investigation) exhibition. Return to the museum hub when finished; this route works for visitors with limited time or visitors relying on local rural bus services for the round trip.
Former-site route: about 2–3 hours
Start at the museum, then continue to Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, the Xingguo Investigation Meeting Former Site, and Zeng Shan’s Former Residence, with a short stop at the thousand-year-old camphor tree. Move between the sites on foot or by car and finish back toward Luofang Town; the former headquarters of the First Front Army of the Red Army, also known as Zhu De’s Former Residence, may be under repair, so check before adding it.
A separate distant site
The former headquarters of the Third Red Army Corps is in Shuixi Town, farther from the Luofang Town site group. Visiting it requires separate transport and time, so keep it outside the 2–3-hour Luofang route.
Get there
From central Xinyu
Rural buses run from central Xinyu toward Luofang Town. Check the day’s bus schedule before leaving, then navigate to “Luofang Conference Memorial Museum” (罗坊会议纪念馆) after getting off and register at the main museum before choosing the next site.
Driving and parking
Driving is the easiest way to move between the scattered former sites. There is a car park at the memorial museum, but spaces are limited; arrive early or follow staff directions, note where you leave the car, and return toward the main museum for the journey back.
Moving between sites
Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, the Xingguo Investigation Meeting Former Site, and Zeng Shan’s Former Residence are separate locations linked by short walks or drives rather than one indoor exhibition route. In rain or with young children, visit the museum and one former site first, then decide whether the road conditions allow more stops.

Repairs and opening conditions
The former headquarters of the First Front Army of the Red Army, or Zhu De’s Former Residence, may be under repair. Check whether it is open when you arrive and adjust the route; the museum, Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, the Xingguo Investigation Meeting Former Site, and Zeng Shan’s Former Residence may also have different on-site access arrangements.
Walking, photos, and town life
The site group includes houses, roads, and outdoor stops, so wear shoes suitable for short walks and take care after rain. Mao Zedong’s Former Residence, the thousand-year-old camphor tree, and the memorial museum exterior are suitable photo subjects, while indoor displays follow the signs. Luofang Town also has a local zaojiu (早酒) tradition, where an early meal is accompanied by drinks; arrange the timing and venue on the day.
