Plan at a glance

Enter the residential village through the visitor centre

Huangtian Ancient Village is in Huangtian Village, Langqiao Town, Jing County, Xuancheng. The visitor centre is the main entrance. Fengzi River, Yangchuanwu House, the Royal Works Department Riverbed, the People's Commune and Sishen Hall are spread through the village and connected by riverside paths and lanes.

The short route takes about 1–2 hours. Adding the People's Commune and Sishen Hall takes about 2–3 hours. Driving is the most practical option, and the visitor centre has parking. Residents still live in the village, so keep quiet and stay clear of residential entrances.

Ticket prices and opening hours

The standard ticket is about CNY 50, while online booking may be around CNY 38–40. Reservations are generally not required. The scenic area usually opens around 08:00–17:00; ticket prices, exhibition-site access and parking arrangements follow the travel-date information.

Regular paid admission currently applies, with tickets purchased at the visitor centre.

Yangchuanwu House and Fengzi River

Yangchuanwu House is Huangtian's most recognisable group of buildings. Along Fengzi River, you can see waterside platforms, old bridges and the village water system. The Royal Works Department Riverbed shows the layout of artificial channels, open drains and covered channels, making it a good stop for visitors interested in architecture and village water management.

This route focuses on buildings, waterways and a residential village, with a quieter pace than a commercialised ancient town. For a full view of Yangchuanwu House, look for a higher viewpoint on the opposite bank and keep to the open visitor routes.

The People's Commune and Sishen Hall

The People's Commune retains some buildings and slogans from the 1960s and 1970s, making it interesting for visitors drawn to rural history and film locations. Sishen Hall is worth seeing for decorative brickwork and other architectural details; access to exhibition areas follows the day's arrangements.

There are few supply points in Huangtian, so focus on the buildings and short walks. Visitors who enjoy a slower village visit can allow 2–3 hours and leave room for residents to pass through.

Build your day

Short route: Fengzi River to Yangchuanwu House

Enter through the visitor centre and follow the main channel on the right bank of Fengzi River upstream. See the Royal Works Department Riverbed first, cross the bridge to Yangchuanwu House on the upper branch, and finish at a higher viewpoint for a wider view of the buildings. The route takes about 1–2 hours.

There are narrow sections between the riverside paths, bridges and residential areas. Do not block the way while taking photos. Follow the on-site signs for access around Yangchuanwu House and the riverbed.

Full route: add the People's Commune and Sishen Hall

Continue from the short route to the People's Commune and Sishen Hall, then return to the visitor centre by the same route or an open side path. The full route takes about 2–3 hours and suits visitors who want more architectural details and historical scenes.

If an exhibition area closes temporarily, spend more time along Fengzi River, outside Yangchuanwu House and on the village walk. There are no large commercial facilities in the village, so arrange drinking water and a full meal before returning.

Get there

Drive to the visitor centre

Navigate to the Huangtian Scenic Area visitor centre, with parking near the entrance. Online and on-site ticketing methods and parking arrangements may change; follow the visitor centre's arrangements for the day when you arrive.

Huangtian can be combined with China Xuan Paper Culture Park, Chaji Ancient Village and Peach Blossom Pool on a Jing County self-drive route, but each has separate entrances, ticketing and walking areas. If you are visiting more than one site that day, allow for the driving and parking time between them.

Village walking and supplies

The scenic area is mainly explored on foot, and shops in the village are limited. Bring water and snacks in advance. For more dining choices, return to Jing County town for a meal.

Know before you go

Use the visitor centre and open visitor routes

Buy your ticket at the visitor centre and stay on the open visitor routes. Side paths around the parking area and residential neighbourhoods are not part of the usual visitor route. Do not enter residents' courtyards or restricted areas.

Tickets, mosquitoes and residential areas

Use about CNY 50 as the standard ticket reference; online prices, exhibition-site access and parking follow the travel-date information. Mosquitoes are common in summer, and supplies are limited in parts of the village, so wear comfortable walking shoes and carry water.

Huangtian remains a residential village. There may be everyday activity along Fengzi River, outside homes and on side lanes. Keep your distance when taking photos, do not stop at residential entrances and leave the way clear for residents.
