A group of rural viewpoints
Jiapeng Terraces is in Jiapeng Township, Jixi County, Xuancheng, with no single enclosed entrance. Meiganling Viewpoint is the main scenic stop, while Kantou Ancient Village and Hucun Qingtan Ancient Bridge are spread around it and can be connected by car.
A short stop at Meiganling takes about 1–2 hours. Adding the ancient village and Qingtan Ancient Bridge takes about 3–4 hours. Public transport is not practical for covering the scattered viewpoints, so driving is the most convenient option.
Free-access areas and seasonal changes
Most of the wider area usually has no admission charge, although some viewpoints may charge separately, such as about CNY 5 per person. The area is generally open throughout the day, while parking, viewpoint charges and temporary management follow the on-site arrangements.
The main rapeseed-flower season is from mid-March to mid-April, while August is mainly a time for green rice fields. Clouds, flowering dates, water levels and viewpoint access can all change with the weather and season.

Meiganling: terraces and a wide view of Kantou Ancient Village
Meiganling Viewpoint looks over the terraces, Kantou Ancient Village at the foot of the hills and the surrounding mountains. It is the best place to start for a broad view of Jiapeng. Early morning may bring mist, but visibility depends on the day's weather.
Photography-focused visitors can capture the wider landscape from the viewpoint or look for closer views along the terrace paths. Access differs between field paths and viewing platforms, so follow the on-site directions while taking photos.
Kantou Ancient Village and Hucun Qingtan Ancient Bridge
Kantou Ancient Village retains the Xu Clan Ancestral Hall, waterways and old bridges, making it easy to pair the terraces with a Huizhou village on the same drive. Qingtan Ancient Bridge in Hucun is surrounded by streams and bamboo; water levels, path conditions and access near the water change with the weather.
This group of stops suits photography, rural walking and a short self-drive trip. With children, keep them under close supervision near the stream, and pay attention to the water level and slippery rocks even in shallow areas.
Build your day
Quick route: Meiganling Viewpoint
Navigate to Meiganling Viewpoint. After arriving, take in the views of the terraces and Kantou Ancient Village, then walk a short distance for photos according to the parking and path signs. Spend about 1–2 hours here; it works well as a viewpoint stop along a longer drive.
Roads are more likely to be congested during the spring flowering season, and arriving early makes parking easier. Viewpoint charges and parking follow the day's on-site signs.
Full route: Qingtan Ancient Bridge, Meiganling and Kantou Ancient Village
You can start at Hucun Qingtan Ancient Bridge, drive to Meiganling Viewpoint and finish with a walk through Kantou Ancient Village. The three stops require driving between them, and the whole route takes about 3–4 hours.
Roads and parking are more likely to be congested during the rapeseed-flower season, and connecting all three stops will add transfer time. If it rains or the stream rises, shorten your stay near Qingtan Ancient Bridge.
Get there
Drive between the three stops
Navigate to the parking area at Meiganling Viewpoint, Hucun Qingtan Ancient Bridge or Kantou Ancient Village; each stop has its own parking area. Spaces at Meiganling and Kantou Ancient Village are limited in peak periods. Follow traffic guidance and do not leave a vehicle for a long time on village or viewpoint roads.
Jiapeng Township covers a wide area, so the stops cannot all be connected in one walk. If you are not driving, choose one main viewpoint or arrange a vehicle that can cover the stops.
Know before you go
Flowering dates and field colours
Rapeseed flowers are mainly seen from mid-March to mid-April, while August usually brings green rice fields. Flowering dates, mist and the colour of the fields change, so choose your visit according to the season, field conditions and weather.
Food, accommodation and mosquitoes
There are farm stays and guesthouses around Jiapeng, with different food options and prices. If you want to see sunrise, consider staying in Kantou Village or near the viewpoint. Mosquitoes are more common around streams and fields in summer, so bring repellent.
Safety by the streams and viewpoints
Water levels near Qingtan Ancient Bridge can change with the weather. Keep children close to the water, and do not enter fast-flowing areas or places without clear public access. Follow the signs at viewpoints, field paths and parking areas.
