Plan at a glance

Three core areas are spread through the valley

Xialin Nine Heavens Silver Waterfall Scenic Area is in Xialin Village, Zhongxi Town, Ningguo, Xuancheng. The visitor centre and main gate are the usual entry points. Wolong Valley, Shimen Scenic Area and Dalongtan Scenic Area are spread across a large valley, so moving between them normally requires a sightseeing shuttle or a car.

The quick route takes about 2–3 hours, while the full route takes about 4–6 hours. Driving is the most convenient option. Parking is about CNY 10 per visit, and the distances inside the scenic area make it impractical to connect every section on foot alone.

Ticket prices, shuttle buses and opening hours

Standard tickets are about CNY 60–75, while online prices may differ. A one-way sightseeing-shuttle ride is about CNY 10 per person, and some packages may include it. Special reservations are generally not required. The scenic area usually opens around 08:00–17:00.

The shuttle generally runs one way from the main gate → Shimen → Dalongtan and does not return to the previous stop. If you get off at Shimen, confirm whether onward boarding is allowed that day before continuing. Rafting, the glass viewing platform and other add-on activities may be sold separately; prices and access follow the day's arrangements.

Choose your visit

Wolong Valley: waterfalls, streams and bamboo

Wolong Valley centres on waterfalls, valley paths and bamboo groves. It suits visitors who want to combine a walk with streamside scenery. Guanyin Waterfall and other falls along the route can be included in the walking section, while rain may change the water levels and path conditions.

This route suits visitors who enjoy hiking, photography and valley landscapes. With children, keep them under close supervision by the streams, and do not enter fast-flowing, slippery areas or places without clearly open access.

Shimen and Dalongtan: concentrated waterfall stops

Shimen Scenic Area is known for the cliffs on either side and its group of waterfalls, making it suitable for a shorter visit focused on the main scenery. Dalongtan is farther along the shuttle route, with a pool and the Dalongtan Waterfall; pay attention to the return boarding point and last shuttle.

If waterfalls and valley landforms are your priority, focus on Shimen and Dalongtan. Add Wolong Valley if you want more walking. Water levels, paths and the accessible viewing areas in each section can change with the weather.

Build your day

Quick route: Shimen to Dalongtan

Take the sightseeing shuttle from the visitor centre to Shimen Scenic Area. Visit Shimen, Wulong Waterfall and Longxu Waterfall. Whether you can continue by shuttle from Shimen to Dalongtan depends on the day's boarding rules; use the shuttle arrangement available that day for the return trip. Allow about 2–3 hours in total.

The shuttle does not return to the previous stop. At Shimen, check the next boarding point and last shuttle before you get off; whether you can continue by shuttle follows the day's connection rules. After rain, steps and rocks near the waterfalls can be slippery, so take photos from the open paths.

Full route: Wolong Valley, Shimen and Dalongtan

Start with a walk through Wolong Valley, passing Guanyin Waterfall. Continue to Shimen Scenic Area on foot or by sightseeing shuttle, then go on to Dalongtan before returning. The full route takes about 4–6 hours and suits visitors who want both a valley walk and the main waterfall areas.

The full route involves several mountain sections and transfers between areas. Shuttle connections follow the day's arrangements. Bring water and comfortable walking shoes, and shorten the streamside sections if it rains or the water rises.

Get there

Drive to the visitor centre and main gate

Navigate to the Xialin Nine Heavens Silver Waterfall Scenic Area visitor centre or main gate. Parking is about CNY 10 per visit. Because the scenic area is large, check the shuttle ticket counter, boarding points and operating direction after arriving.

Wolong Valley, Shimen and Dalongtan are far apart, so a sightseeing shuttle or car is normally needed to move between them. If you are not driving, confirm the scenic-area shuttle and return trip before setting out.

Sightseeing-shuttle connections

A one-way shuttle ride is about CNY 10 per person, and some packages may include it. The usual route goes from the main gate to Shimen and then Dalongtan. Reboarding after an intermediate stop may not always be allowed, so confirm the rule when buying your ticket and check the boarding point for each section.

Know before you go

Waterfalls, streams and slippery surfaces

Waterfalls, steps and streamside rocks can be more slippery after rain. Wear shoes with good grip and slow down. Water levels and the available viewing areas can change with rainfall, so do not stay beside pools or in the water where access is not clearly open.

Add-on activities and pets

Rafting, the glass viewing platform and other activities may be sold separately from the main admission ticket. Confirm the price, operating hours and activity route before paying. If you are bringing a pet, ask the scenic area about entry and shuttle rules; on-site arrangements apply.

Crowds, food and the return trip

Tour groups may increase waiting times around the shuttles and waterfalls on weekends and public holidays. There are farm restaurants near the scenic area; for more dining choices, return to Ningguo city. Before leaving, confirm the last shuttle section and the return transport.
