Plan at a glance

The signboards are across from the university gate

“Yanbian University Signboard Street” refers to shop signs on the commercial buildings along Gongyuan Road, opposite the south gate of Yanbian University. The visit is outdoors on public sidewalks; enter individual shops only under their opening hours and entry rules.

Daytime and evening views

The illuminated signs stand out more after dark. Lighting times vary by season and shop hours, while daytime is still a good time to see the building façades and street setting.

Choose your visit

Choose between the signs and the street scene

For the illuminated signs, view the buildings from the sidewalk across the road after dark. Daytime is better for finding your way, seeing the façades and exploring the surrounding shopping street. Signs may change, so treat old photos as a general reference rather than expecting every sign to remain the same.

Plan around the time you have

Allow 15–20 minutes for a walk along the public pavement and a few street photos. Allow 40–60 minutes if you want to find several angles, wait for foot traffic to thin and take a break in a nearby shop that is open. These are itinerary estimates, not site rules; shop purchases and any terrace access cost extra.

Finding a photo angle when it is busy

Crowds are heavier on holiday evenings, and you may need to wait for photos. If the pavement is crowded, walk farther along the street to find another angle. Do not block the university gate or shop entrances.

Build your day

Quick sidewalk walk | about 15–20 minutes

From the Yanbian University bus stop or a legal drop-off point, walk to Gongyuan Road and view the commercial façades from the sidewalk opposite the university’s south gate. Take photos from a spot that does not block the way. To cross the road, use a signalised crossing or zebra crossing, then return along the pavement to the bus stop or pickup point. The estimate allows for a few street photos.

Slower street walk | about 40–60 minutes

Start across the road, then walk along the pavement and take another round of photos as the signs light up and foot traffic changes. If you want a break, choose a shop that is open and ask about spending and entry conditions first. The shop must confirm whether its terrace is open; residential corridors are not part of this public walking route.

Fit it into a day in Yanji

Make this a short street-photo stop before continuing to other parts of Yanji. If you visit in the evening, plan how you will return to your hotel or station. Nearby shops have different hours, so the route does not depend on any particular restaurant or café.

Get there

Address and arrival point

Yanbian University Signboard Street is on the commercial buildings along Gongyuan Road in Yanji, opposite the university gate. Bus, taxi and driving

Buses including B26, B37 and B39 stop at Yanbian University (延边大学); check live transit information before setting out. By taxi, choose a permitted drop-off point and walk to the sidewalk opposite the south gate. If driving, follow roadside signs, traffic lights and directions from traffic police; ask nearby parking facilities or check local traffic information about fees and night-time restrictions.

Know before you go

Stay within the public area

This route covers the street level along Gongyuan Road, not a viewing platform or a rooftop café. Before entering a shop or using a terrace, confirm its hours, entry conditions and any spending requirements. Do not enter residential corridors without permission.

Keep clear of traffic while taking photos

Vehicle and pedestrian traffic can be heavy near the university during holidays. Stay on the pavement; do not stand in a traffic lane, bus lane or the middle of an intersection, and keep shop and campus entrances clear. Watch for vehicles after dark and hold children’s hands near the road.

Photo services and day-of changes

People nearby may offer paid photography. Before buying, confirm the price, number of photos and how they will be delivered. Shop and terrace hours and temporary traffic arrangements can change; check them on the day. You can view the façades without paying for a photo service or entering private areas.
