Dinosaur fossils and discoveries near Yanji
The museum is organised around two themes: Dinosaur Planet, which introduces dinosaurs and other prehistoric life from different regions, and Longxing Yanji (龙兴延吉), which covers fossil discoveries and research around Longshan in Yanji. This is a fossil and paleontology museum, while Yanji Dinosaur Kingdom focuses on theme park attractions; check their tickets and opening arrangements separately.
How long to allow
Your visit depends on which galleries are open that day. Decide whether you want to see the full museum or focus on Hall 2; if Halls 3–5 are being upgraded, hosting a temporary exhibition or closed, adjust your route to the galleries you can enter.

Tickets and discounts
An adult ticket is listed at CNY 30. A museum interview in 2023 also listed free admission for children under 1.2 metres and half-price student tickets, but current prices and discounts should be checked on the ticket page or in the museum’s notice for the day. Ask at the visitor service centre whether interactive experiences cost extra.
Seasonal opening hours
The current Ctrip listing shows Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–16:30, with last admission at 16:00; the museum is closed on Mondays. A Yanbian News report on winter hours in 2025 listed 09:00–16:00, with last admission at 15:30, and the same Monday closure. Check the hours and holiday arrangements for your visit date before planning entry.
Choose how much to see
If you are interested in fossil discoveries around Yanji, include Halls 3–5 in your plan. If you want to focus on dinosaurs and prehistoric environments from around the world, allow more time for Hall 2. Hall 1 is the visitor service centre, where you can confirm the day’s route and interactive activities.
Build your day
Full museum route | about 1.5–2 hours
If Halls 3–5 are open, start at the visitor service centre in Hall 1, see the Longxing Yanji exhibition, then finish in Dinosaur Planet in Hall 2. Halls 3–5 focus on fossil discoveries, local dinosaurs and associated animals from the Yanji area. Hall 2 uses fossils, models and paleontology exhibits to introduce dinosaurs and ancient ecosystems more broadly.
Quick visit when Hall 2 is open | about 40–60 minutes
If Hall 2 is open and you have limited time, focus on Dinosaur Planet and allow about 40–60 minutes. Use the floor guide to choose what to see; if an interactive exhibit costs extra, ask about the price and how to use it first.
Combining nearby stops
If you also plan to visit Yanji Dinosaur Kingdom or Chinese Korean Folk Park, set aside 1–2 hours for this museum and allow for the drive between attractions. The three can be combined in a Maoershan-area itinerary, but each has its own admission area, ticket and opening hours; plan the transfer order around the destinations you are visiting.
Get there
Address and navigation
The museum is in the dinosaur-themed resort area in southern Yanji. Search for “Yanji Dinosaur Museum” in your map app, then go to the Hall 1 visitor service centre to check which galleries are open and how to visit them.
From Yanji West Railway Station

Know before you go
Gallery openings and temporary changes
Individual galleries may change access for maintenance, themed events or temporary exhibitions. If you are coming for a particular gallery or exhibition, check the day’s opening list first.
Interactive exhibits and walking
Check on arrival whether VR, glasses-free 3D and 5D experiences are operating and whether they cost extra. If you are visiting with children, check age and height requirements as well. The museum involves walking and standing; comfortable shoes make it easier to follow the floor guide. Follow the on-site notice about bringing food.
Keep the museum and theme park tickets separate
Yanji Dinosaur Museum is a separately ticketed educational attraction. If a Yanji Dinosaur Kingdom ticket lists a guided visit to the history museum or other resort benefits, use them only at the venue named on that ticket and under its stated rules. Check this museum’s own ticket and entry information for your visit.
