Ticket, entrance, and hours
The park is in Zhapo on Hailing Island. The usual entrance is the main gate and car park of Hailing Island Mangrove National Wetland Park. The adult ticket is CNY 30, with half-price student and senior tickets according to the day’s ticket types. Advance booking is normally unnecessary; buy the ticket at the entrance. The park is an ecological walk and observation stop, not a beach or water park.
The park can be entered all day, but daytime to early evening is safer because lighting is limited at night and rising tides make wetland routes more difficult. Allow 1–1.5 hours for the boardwalk and viewpoints, or 2–3 hours if you include tide observation, breaks, and the open wetland areas.
Tidal flats and wetland boundaries
The mangrove area changes as the tide exposes or covers the flats. The mud below the boardwalk is not an open water-play area. The park is for walking and nature observation, not swimming or a night-time tidal-flat trip.

Boardwalk, mangroves, and birds
The boardwalk extends over the mangroves towards viewing areas. The amount of mudflat, water, and wildlife visible depends on the tide. Egrets and other birds may feed in the flats; observe them quietly and do not chase, feed, or touch wildlife.
The mangrove plants and tidal environment make a useful family nature stop. For a quieter visit, choose a less busy daytime period. Stay on the boardwalk and open platforms rather than stepping into mud to get closer to birds or water.
Who it suits
The wetland park suits families, nature enthusiasts, and visitors who want an easy walk. If your group expects beach swimming, slides, or a long water activity, choose Dajiao Bay or another managed attraction instead. The wetland works best as a short half-day stop.
Build your day
A 1–1.5 hour boardwalk route
Enter through the main gate and follow the boardwalk towards the viewing bridge. Walk slowly while observing the mangroves, tide line, and birds, then return on the open route. Check the day’s tide and weather before setting out; shorten the walk if the boardwalk is slippery, visibility drops, or water rises.
The route is not physically demanding and suits older adults. The boardwalk is not a race to catch sunset: when taking photos or resting, leave room for other visitors to pass.
A 2–3 hour wetland visit
Walk the boardwalk first, then observe the open tidal area during the appropriate tide period before resting at a viewpoint. Whether the flats are safe to approach depends on the water level, mud, and staff instructions. Do not leave the boardwalk to collect shells or crabs.
If you plan to eat at Zhapo Fishing Port or Yiyecheng afterwards, leave the wetland before dark and return to the car park or town. Do not make the park the final five-minute stop before dinner, and do not depend on unlit roads for a late return.
Get there
High-speed rail and island transport
From Yangjiang Station, take a taxi or shared ride to Hailing Island, then continue from Zhapo by electric two-wheeler or taxi. The trip from Zhapo takes about 10–20 minutes by vehicle; by bike it is about 10–15 minutes. Allow for wet weather and battery range on the return.
Driving and parking
Drive to “Hailing Island Mangrove National Wetland Park Parking”. Parking is CNY 10 per vehicle. Use the park car park or a clearly permitted space. During holidays, do not block residents, pedestrians, or emergency access just to avoid a short walk.
Know before you go
Insects, wet ground, and clothing
Mosquitoes are common around mangroves and water. Bring insect repellent, drinking water, and sun protection. Boardwalks, rocks, and mud can be slippery, so wear shoes with good grip. Do not touch unknown animals, and leave low ground when the tide rises.
The park has no beach swimming or water rides. Choose a managed bathing area if you want to swim. Inside the wetland, walk according to the signs, do not climb railings or cross barriers, and do not chase birds.
Visit timing and supplies
Food and supplies inside the park are limited, so have a proper meal in Zhapo and carry enough water. Visit in daylight and eat at the port or food street afterwards. Do not enter based on claims that the park is free before staff arrive or after ticket hours; use the normal ticket and opening rules.
Weather, tides, and temporary management can affect the boardwalk and mudflat access. Treat the wetland as an adjustable stop and keep an indoor or town-based alternative instead of waiting for one exact tide.
