Plan at a glance
Beach, swimming area, and parking
Moon Bay is in the Moon Bay Coastal International Tourist Resort in Shaba Town, Yangxi County. Use the main beach gate or an entrance along Binhai Avenue. The public beach is free and needs no reservation; paid swimming areas and water activities are separate. Parking usually costs CNY 10–15 per vehicle, subject to the day’s car-park signs.
The beach is accessible all day, but daytime to early evening is best for the main visit. A half day is enough for a walk, sand time, and a rest stop. Allow one to two days if you also want Shaba Bay, Beieling viewpoint, and evening dining, but do not merge the two bays’ tickets, lifeguard arrangements, or accommodation rules.
Suitable beach activities
Moon Bay is suited to coastal walks, sea views, and sand time when the weather allows. If you want to swim or use jet skis, banana boats, or other activities, first confirm the open area, lifeguard arrangements, equipment, and price. Public beach access does not automatically mean an all-day managed swimming zone.

Beach and resort facilities
The beach, coconut trees, and Binhai Avenue provide an easy coastal break. For photos, use the open sand, tree shade, or seafront buildings. Some cafés and installations are commercial facilities; check their opening, entrance charge, or minimum spend on arrival rather than changing the whole day around one photo point.
At low tide, you can observe the tide line and shallows from an open, safe part of the shore. If you plan a tidal-flat visit, check the tide and stay within accessible areas. Leave when rocks become slippery, the water rises, or the wind strengthens; collecting shells is never guaranteed.
Who it suits
Moon Bay suits families, couples, and travellers who want accommodation, beach rest, and food within a resort area. Stay in Shaba Bay if night markets matter more; stay at Moon Bay if a quieter sea view matters more, noting that meals and supplies usually require a short transfer.
Build your day
A half-day beach route
Enter through a public beach access point, begin with a walk and sand time, then decide whether an open paid swimming area or water activity fits the day. Use the hottest part of midday for a meal, rest, or indoor break, then return to the beach later if conditions are suitable.
Before leaving, confirm your parking location, belongings, and return transport. A public beach and a paid swimming area are different experiences; buying a swimming ticket does not apply the same rules to other stretches of coast.
A two-bay day
Use the morning for Moon Bay, visit Beieling viewpoint in the afternoon, then return to Shaba Bay for an evening walk and dinner. The view from Beieling depends on weather and visibility; in strong wind or rain, rest in town instead of taking risks for a panorama.
With two days, use the second day for an open tidal-flat observation stop near Nanshanhai or a walk around Haizihu, after confirming construction and access. Do not schedule Qingzhou Island snorkelling without checking its status, and do not treat Moon Bay’s free beach as a substitute for every water activity.
Get there
High-speed rail and local travel
From Yangxi Station, take a taxi or tourist shuttle to Moon Bay in about 50 minutes. Shaba Bay and Moon Bay can be linked by a short taxi ride, a rented electric two-wheeler, or local transport. Leave extra time for holiday traffic on the return.
Driving and parking
Drive to “Moon Bay Coastal International Tourist Resort”. Parking usually costs CNY 10–15 per vehicle. Some restaurants may offer parking arrangements with a purchase, but any reduction depends on that business and the car park that day. Do not treat privately marked roadside spaces as general free parking.
Know before you go
Sea conditions, sun, and lifeguards
Before leaving, confirm whether you are visiting the public beach or a paid swimming area, and check the day’s sea and lifeguard notices. Public coast should not be assumed to have the same supervision as a managed swimming area. Wind, thunderstorms, or water conditions can pause any swimming plan.
Shade is limited at the coast, so bring sunscreen, water, and spare clothes. Sand and tidal flats can be slippery; wear shoes with good grip. Keep children beside you and do not let them approach the waterline or rocks alone.
Accommodation and food
Moon Bay accommodation is convenient for sea views and rest, while Shaba Bay is easier for evening food; their noise, parking, and supplies differ. Check recent reviews, exact location, and your return transport before booking rather than choosing only by a sea-view listing or low price.
Confirm prices and preparation charges before buying seafood or choosing a processing restaurant. Resort cafés are optional: read entry-fee, set-menu, or minimum-spend notices before deciding, and do not feel obliged to spend money for a photo.
