How to Visit
1

Start with Liubei Pond itself

The main value here is not ordinary park scenery, but the curved-water drinking relic linked to Huang Tingjian. After entering, find Liubei Pond and the cliff inscriptions first, then decide whether to keep wandering.

Tip:If you treat it only as a city green space, it is easy to miss the most meaningful part.
2

Move slowly through the cliff inscriptions

Around Liubei Pond, there are cliff inscriptions and historical texts. If you like calligraphy or Song-dynasty literati culture, leave more time than an average visitor.

Tip:The inscriptions are not just for a quick distant photo. Looking closer at the words and their positions is more interesting.
3

Then visit the shrines and halls

After Liubei Pond and the inscriptions, continue to the Chancellor Shrine, Guandi Temple, Fuweng Tower, and related spots. This separates the Huang Tingjian story from the Three Kingdoms cultural line.

Tip:Smaller internal sights may have fixed hours, so do not enter the park too late.
4

Decide whether to continue to Cuike Mountain

The park can connect to a Cuike Mountain walking route, which works for visitors with time and energy. If you only want a city cultural stop, 1-2 hours is enough.

Tip:Before continuing uphill, prepare water and check your return timing. Do not treat it as a casual extra if you are not ready for a walk.
Highlights
  • Liubei Pond is one of Yibin’s representative literati relics and is linked to Huang Tingjian’s time in Rongzhou.
  • The curved-water drinking relic is more important than an ordinary pond; focus on the winding stone channel and valley setting.
  • Cliff inscriptions give the park calligraphy and historical depth, so it rewards slower looking.
  • The Chancellor Shrine and Guandi Temple add a separate Three Kingdoms cultural thread.
  • The park is free and fits well into a short old-city or north-bank route.
Insider Tips

Liubei Pond Park is better for quiet cultural relic viewing than for a large scenic-area experience.

Weekend parking is tight, so public transport or taxi is easier.

After rain, stone steps, valley paths, and waterside areas can be slippery.

If you are not familiar with calligraphy, focus on Huang Tingjian, the curved-water drinking tradition, and the valley layout.

Without Cuike Mountain, the park does not need a long visit. With the hill route, treat it as a real walk.
