How to Visit
1

Arrive in the afternoon

Lizhuang works best from afternoon into evening. Use daylight for the old streets, wartime cultural sites, and historic buildings, then move toward Yuetian for night views.

Tip:The old town and Yuetian are both better at a slow walking pace, so there is no need to rush into activities as soon as you arrive.
2

Separate the two main areas

The traditional old-town core is better for Xizi Lane, Zhang Family Ancestral Hall, Tongji University sites, and China Architecture Society history. Yuetian is a newer night-tour and waterside area.

Tip:The two areas feel different. If time is short, do not only visit Yuetian for night photos and miss the older streets.
3

Save dinner for Lizhuang

Have Lizhuang white pork, white cake, or a local meal in the old town around early evening, then walk by the river and Yuetian afterward. This pacing works better than rushing through lunch.

Tip:During busy holidays, popular restaurants can have long waits, so eat a little earlier if needed.
4

Public transport is workable

From central Yibin or Yibin West Railway Station, you can connect by bus. If driving, pay attention to holiday parking and shuttle arrangements around the town.

Tip:During holidays, do not assume you can drive directly into the core area.
Highlights
  • Lizhuang is valuable for more than night views. Its wartime university and academic history is worth slowing down for.
  • The old-town core keeps Ming- and Qing-style lanes, ancestral halls, temples, and local daily life.
  • Yuetian is better for night walks, photos, and an easy contrast with the older town.
  • Lizhuang white pork, white cake, and local liquor are the most memorable local flavors.
  • The Yangtze River side is best around dusk, when the pace of the visit can slow down.
Insider Tips

The old town is free to enter, but some exhibition halls, boats, or performances may charge separately.

Yuetian lighting and performance schedules can change by season, weather, and event planning, so do not build the whole visit around one fixed time.

If you only have half a day, prioritize the old streets, cultural sites, riverfront, and Yuetian night views.

Staying inside the old town can be quiet in the morning, but luggage and parking are harder during holidays.

Lizhuang combines well with central Yibin, Wuliangye, or Yangtze River stops. It does not always need a full separate day.
