How to Visit
1

See the river mouth first, then the landmarks

Yangtze River Landmark Square is in the Hejiangmen area. Start from the viewing platform for the river confluence, then look for the Yangtze River zero kilometer marker and the Pearl of the Yangtze sphere screen.

Tip:This square and Hejiangmen are not far-apart sights, so do not count them as two separate transport stops.
2

Stay through dusk

Arrive in late afternoon if possible. See the river in daylight first, then wait for the square lights, sphere screen, and opposite-bank night view after dark.

Tip:Lighting and performance arrangements can change with weather, events, and operations, so do not build the visit around one fixed show.
3

Use it as an old-city entry point

Guanying Street, Hejiang Street, and old-city food streets are right nearby. The square works well as the start of an evening citywalk.

Tip:If you only want photos, about 1 hour is enough. If you plan to eat, walk, and wait for night views, allow 2 hours or more.
4

Do not ignore higher and opposite-bank views

Close to the square, you get better photos of the sphere and zero-kilometer marker. For the full river mouth and skyline, use a higher platform or a viewpoint across the river.

Tip:Close views are lively, while distant views are more complete. Do not wait in one spot expecting both.
Highlights
  • The Yangtze River zero kilometer marker gives the square more meaning than a normal riverside plaza.
  • The Pearl of the Yangtze sphere screen is the most visible night landmark and works well for a short photo stop.
  • Higher parts of the square make it easier to see the river confluence and old-city riverbank.
  • Nearby food streets make it easy to add Yibin ranmian noodles, baba barbecue, cold rice cake, and other local snacks on the same evening.
  • Walking to Guanying Street and Daguan Pavilion is easy from here, so the route does not need backtracking.
Insider Tips

Do not treat Yangtze River Landmark Square and Hejiangmen as two long separate visits. They are best combined.

For fewer people in photos, avoid the holiday peak between dinner and the main lighting period.

Watch children carefully near riverside railings and steps when the area is crowded.

The Three Rivers night cruise needs a separate ticket and is not the same as the free square visit.

If time is short, this works well as a 30-60 minute city landmark stop.
