How to Visit
1

Put it inside the wider Bamboo Sea route

Xianyu Cave is not separate from Southern Sichuan Bamboo Sea. You normally enter the Bamboo Sea first, then combine Xianyu Cave with Tianbao Fortress, the Grand Canyon cableway, or nearby sights.

Tip:Do not enter and exit the whole scenic area only for Xianyu Cave. The transport and time cost will feel inefficient.
2

Choose the route by fitness

Xianyu Cave and Tianbao Fortress are often visited together, with stairs, cliffside paths, and uphill or downhill sections. If your fitness is average, choose the easier entry direction and a more downhill route when possible.

Tip:With older travelers or children, do not force the full hiking route. Reduce the plan further when paths are wet.
3

Leave time for the cliff temple

Xianyu Cave is not a normal cave. Its value is the cliffside temple, stone carvings, Buddhist and Daoist buildings, and valley view. Once you reach it, do not leave after only taking one entrance photo.

Tip:Stone steps, cave sections, and waterside areas may be slippery, so stand securely before taking photos.
4

Separate its pace from Emerald Gallery and Haizhonghai

Emerald Gallery is a short photo stop, while Xianyu Cave needs more walking and energy. They can fit into the same day, but do not estimate their visit time the same way.

Tip:If you need to catch public transport back to central Yibin, do not place Xianyu Cave too late in the day.
Highlights
  • Xianyu Cave is special because it combines a half-cliff cave with temple buildings, rather than being a normal cave visit.
  • Cliff walls, valley views, bamboo forest, and old buildings appear in the same sightline, giving it stronger space than a flat temple.
  • Buddhist and Daoist buildings, plus cliff carvings, add cultural depth.
  • Linking it with Tianbao Fortress creates a fuller cliffside walking route.
  • After rain, water scenery may be stronger, but paths are also more slippery.
Insider Tips

Xianyu Cave belongs inside the wider Southern Sichuan Bamboo Sea trip, so consider entrance tickets, vehicle entry, and scenic-area transport together.

Wear shoes with good grip, not shoes that are only good for photos.

During holidays, scenic transport and cableways may have queues, so leave extra time.

Ask prices clearly before choosing food, sedan-chair carrying, or other paid add-ons.

If you only have one day in Southern Sichuan Bamboo Sea, Xianyu Cave and Tianbao Fortress will use a lot of energy, so do not add too many far-apart stops.
