Plan at a glance
Park scope and entrances
Sanzhaolun National Forest Park is in Jing'an County, Yichun, with attractions spread across a large area. The visitor centre is useful for an overview and general information, while Huxiao Gorge and Guanyin Rock have their own entrances and on-site arrangements. The areas are not connected by a walkable internal route. For a one-day visit, choose one area as the main focus.
Ticket types and time
Huxiao Gorge, the forest train, rafting and Guanyin Rock are sold separately. Online packages and on-site ticket types may differ, so check the entrance and included items before buying. Half a day is enough for one area; adding a second requires extra driving and parking time.

Choose your visit
Huxiao Gorge: canyon and forest transport
Huxiao Gorge combines wooded canyon scenery, streams and waterfalls. The forest train runs through the trees, while rafting depends on the season and water conditions. For scenery only, walk the trail or take the train; when buying, check whether the train ticket is one-way or return and whether it is combined with rafting.
Guanyin Rock: stream trail and waterfalls
The Guanyin Rock trail passes through forest and follows the stream to waterfalls. Boardwalks and mountain paths rise and fall, and become slippery after rain. For an easier walk, go as far as you want and return by the same route.
Choose one area first
Groups with children or different fitness levels can choose a route within one entrance area that allows an easy return. Rafting groups must meet the age, height and date-specific operating requirements. Huxiao Gorge and Guanyin Rock require a separate vehicle transfer, which must be part of the day's timing.
Build your day
Huxiao Gorge forest train | check the route on the day
If you want to ride the train, ask at the Huxiao Gorge entrance for the starting point, endpoint, return option and connection with rafting. A train ticket is not a rafting ticket, and the way back to the parking area after the ride also depends on the day's arrangement. Plan the two activities separately until those details are clear; do not treat them as a fixed half-day loop. Buy rafting separately when it is operating.
Huxiao Gorge forest walk | about 2–3 hours
Enter through Huxiao Gorge, follow the open trail through the forest and stream valley, then decide whether to add the train. Use a waterfall or boardwalk as a stopping point and keep time for the return to the entrance. Keep the train ride separate from the walking route and ask where you will walk after getting off.
Guanyin Rock forest route | about 3 hours
Navigate to the Guanyin Rock entrance, then follow the open trail towards the stream and waterfalls. Stop only at marked viewpoints. Turn back when your time or energy requires it and return to the original entrance. If a loop is open or a section is temporarily closed, follow the signs and staff directions rather than entering an unopened mountain path.
Both areas in one day
Before attempting Huxiao Gorge and Guanyin Rock in one day, check that both are open and arrange a vehicle transfer. Make one area the morning priority, drive to the other around midday for a short route, and shorten the second stop if roads, parking or weather cause delays. Keep enough time for the return.
Get there
From Yichun to Jing'an and the park
Public transport needs to be arranged in stages. Without a car, first reach Jing'an County, then arrange a vehicle from the county town to the Huxiao Gorge or Guanyin Rock entrance. The Yichun urban buses to Wentang do not provide this cross-county connection.
Driving and moving between areas
A private car or a pre-booked local vehicle is more practical for the scattered entrances. Search for a specific destination such as “Huxiao Gorge Scenic Area” or “Guanyin Rock Scenic Area”, rather than only the park name. Check parking locations, the last shuttle and the return time to Jing'an for each area. Do not assume there is a frequent park-wide shuttle between the different areas.
Know before you go
Opening and last admission
Opening hours and last-entry times can differ by entrance. Before leaving, check the ticketing, parking and trail-closing time for the entrance you chose, and keep time to return to that entrance.
Rafting and the forest train
Rafting depends on the season, water level and weather, and its operating period can change at short notice. If you plan to raft, check whether it is running that day, the sessions, age and height rules, safety equipment, last service and refund rules. If rafting is closed, use one of the open walking trails and stay out of unmanaged river sections.
Streams, weather and pets
Stay only in designated, managed water areas. Do not enter roadside or unmarked stream sections for swimming or camping. Heavy rain can change water levels and trail conditions; leave the water when storms arrive or you feel unwell and follow the on-site directions. Pet access varies by area and activity, so ask the relevant entrance before bringing a pet.
