Town centre and time
Wentang Town is in Yuanzhou District, Yichun. Most visits focus on Wentang Ancient Well and Ancient Well Spring Street. The centre is walkable; allow one to two hours to see the well, soak your feet and browse the street. Accommodation is available near the spring street, making it convenient to visit the well and find a meal on foot. Villages and temples outside the centre require a vehicle.
Open town and separate spending
Wentang is an open town without one admission ticket or one set of opening hours for the whole area. The public foot-bathing areas around the ancient well are free. Paid hot springs, hotel private pools and paid gongliao (工疗) bathing facilities or mineral-bath services are sold separately by each operator.

Wentang Ancient Well and public foot bathing
The ancient well is the town centre's main stopping point. In the public area, visitors can use the hot spring water for a foot bath and watch residents collect water and take a break. Bring your own bucket or buy one nearby; some street shops rent wooden buckets for about CNY 10 per use.
An evening walk on Ancient Well Spring Street
Ancient Well Spring Street is a commercial street with Hui-style buildings, restaurants, accommodation and paid hot-spring businesses. It is pleasant for an evening walk and meal. The street itself and each shop have different operating hours.
Nearby villages and the temple
Nanre Ancient Village is known for its stream and two old ginkgo trees. It is especially photogenic when the leaves turn yellow in autumn. The night view of Ancient Well Spring Street, the village ginkgo trees and the stream provide different photo settings. Yangshan Qiyin Chan Temple can be paired with the village in a half-day outing; allow about one hour at the temple. Both places are outside the town centre and need a private car, chartered vehicle or arranged return ride.
For a separate paid hot-spring resort, see Mingyue Mountain Tianmu Hot Spring Resort.
For the ticketed theme park and evening show, see Mingyue Songcheng Park.
For the mountain scenic area and cable-car routes, see Mingyue Mountain.
Build your day
Ancient Well and Spring Street short route | about 1–2 hours
Arrive at Wentang Ancient Well in the afternoon or evening. Start with a foot bath in the public area, walk along Ancient Well Spring Street, then eat in the centre or return to your accommodation. If you rent a wooden bucket, ask the shop about the charge and return point before using it. The well, street and nearby accommodation can all be connected on foot.
Yangshan Qiyin Chan Temple and Nanre Ancient Village | about 3–4 hours
Drive or charter a vehicle from the town centre to Yangshan Qiyin Chan Temple and spend about an hour there. Continue to free-to-enter Nanre Ancient Village for one to two hours by the stream and ginkgo trees, then return to town for dinner. Drive time varies with the route, so check live navigation before leaving.
Get there
From Yichun Railway Station to Wentang
Route 113 runs directly from Yichun Railway Station to the Wentang area and takes about 30 minutes. It stops near Wentang Weijing Hotel and Tianmu Hot Spring. Route 115 also serves Wentang but takes a longer urban route; choose Route 113 when time matters and plan the return around the service for your travel date.
A taxi from Yichun Mingyueshan Airport to Wentang takes about 50 minutes. The ancient well and spring street are walkable from one another. Use a private car, chartered vehicle or arranged transfer for Yangshan Qiyin Chan Temple and Nanre Ancient Village.
Parking and trips outside town
Drivers can navigate to the car park beneath Yupan Square, then walk to the well and spring street. For Nanre Ancient Village or other places outside town, agree on the pickup point and return time with the driver; a last-minute ride may be difficult to find after leaving the village.
Know before you go
Foot bathing, hot springs and operating hours
The public foot-bathing area around the ancient well is generally available all day. Nearby shops usually open from the afternoon into the evening. Public foot bathing is free, while paid bath facilities, mineral-bath services and hotel or guesthouse private pools follow their own rules.
Local businesses often describe the water as a selenium-rich hot spring. That is a local resource description, not a medical claim. Treat foot bathing as leisure; stop if the water feels too hot or you feel unwell. Hot springs do not replace medical care.
Food and returning to the city
The centre has restaurants serving local selenium-rich rice dishes, as well as simple pork-bone soup noodles and local beef rice noodles. These noodles are around CNY 15 per serving; refills or extra noodles and the day's menu follow the shop's own notice. Popular restaurants may queue on holidays. Arrange the return from Nanre or Yangshan before setting out, then leave town after dinner according to the last bus or your reserved vehicle.
