Choose your visit
Five-leaf Gate and lotus ponds
Enter through the Five-leaf Gate and start with the nearby lotus ponds and large granite lotus sculptures, then follow the central axis uphill. The park's space is organised around the “one flower, five leaves” idea. Keep photographs out of the walking line, and watch your footing after rain.
Guanchan Stairway (观禅天梯): 477 steps
The Guanchan Stairway rises about 219 metres and has roughly 477 steps. It is the park's main climb. Visitors with limited fitness, knee or ankle problems, or young children should assess the ascent and descent first. Whether an internal vehicle or another uphill route is available and what it costs follows the entrance arrangement.
Five-leaf Altar and Zen displays
Five-leaf Altar is the park's central four-storey traditional-style building, with Zen-culture displays inside. The themes include Chinese Zen history, Yichun Zen history and Zen art; the open areas and current content follow the gallery guide. The indoor area may have different hours and tickets from the outdoor grounds. If it is closed, visit the exterior and return by an open path.
Build your day
Central-axis walking route | about 2–3 hours
Enter through the main gate, visit the Five-leaf Gate and lotus ponds, then follow the central axis to the Guanchan Stairway. Climb in sections and rest on the platforms before reaching Five-leaf Altar. Check the indoor displays' opening and ticket arrangements before entering, then return down the same route to the main gate. Downhill time also matters; visitors with knee or ankle problems should ask about any uphill transfer. The estimate excludes long breaks and queues.
Entrance and lower grounds only | about 1–2 hours
If you do not plan to climb the full stairway, start at the Five-leaf Gate, visit the lotus ponds and Chanxin Square (禅心广场), then climb only as far as comfortable before turning back. Ask at the entrance which plazas and paths are open. There is no need to force the full 477-step climb.
Summit plus city museums
Place the climb and Five-leaf Altar in the morning or a cooler period, then return to the city for a meal. If you have another half-day, add Yichun Museum or another urban cultural stop. The park and city museums need a vehicle connection, so plan their transport separately.
Get there
From Yichun Railway Station
Take a taxi from Yichun Railway Station, or use the day's city-bus navigation to transfer. Search for the park's full name and check that you are heading to the main gate. Bus services and the last return service can change, so arrange a vehicle ahead if you plan to leave late.
Driving and moving inside
Drivers can search for “Yichun Zen Culture Expo Park”. The park has a car park; spaces, charges and temporary entrance controls follow the on-site signs. The grounds include slopes, so wear comfortable shoes with good grip. If an electric cart or other shuttle is running, follow the entrance notice for its area, departure time and ticket.
Know before you go
Opening and tickets
Usual opening hours are about 08:30–17:30, with last entry subject to seasonal adjustment. Check the day's opening time, Five-leaf Altar ticket and group-booking requirements before setting out.
Fitness, weather and supplies
The stairway has many steps. Use extra care in rain, carry water in hot weather and plan rest stops. There are few supply points, so bring water and a small snack. Check whether the vegetarian restaurant at the entrance is open and what it serves that day.
A quiet visit
The park is mainly for buildings, sculpture and walking scenery, without a dense performance schedule. Keep quiet in the display or temple spaces, do not touch exhibits or worship facilities, and follow the venue signs for photography.
