Runs are named after constellations, and the resort is suited to beginners, families, and beginner-to-intermediate skiers. Virgo is a popular beginner area and can be crowded on weekends.

Choose your visit

Virgo beginner run and constellation runs

Virgo is the main beginner practice area. Scorpio and Aries are intermediate runs, which you can try as your skills progress. The runs are generally narrow and their gradients vary; ice may form in the afternoon. Snowboard beginners should choose a suitable lesson area and slope.

Xingmang Hall and summit views

Xingmang Hall at the summit is a place to rest and look toward nearby resorts such as Wanlong and Fulong. The area outside the hall and open sections of the middle of Virgo are suitable for snow photos. Some parts of the ski area are relatively sheltered from wind, but actual wind and how it feels depend on the day’s weather. Take photos only in designated areas and do not linger on a run.

Who will enjoy it

Beginners and families can spend most of their time in the beginner practice area. Skiers with some experience can try the intermediate runs at Scorpio and Aries. If you want to ski different runs over several days, consider a nearby ski-in/ski-out hotel and confirm its gear and lift-transfer arrangements when booking.

Build your day

A 1–2-hour beginner session

Start at the ski-equipment hall to buy your ticket, rent gear, and get dressed. Then follow the day’s trail map and staff directions to the beginner practice area at Virgo. Begin on a section suited to your ability. Take a lift to a higher point only after an instructor or resort staff confirms that it connects to the beginner run and you can control your descent.

A 3–4-hour intermediate session

Take Lift A from the equipment hall and start on the intermediate run at Scorpio. Continue to Aries if your stamina and the day’s open-run conditions allow. If the snow turns icy in the afternoon, slow down or return to a run you know well. After skiing, take an open lift back to the base.

Ski for multiple days

For a stay of two nights or more, consider a multi-day ticket and a ski-in/ski-out hotel, then try different runs at different times each day. Confirm lift transfers, lodging, and ski tickets separately against your booking.

Get there

Free shuttle from the high-speed rail station

The high-speed train from Beijing North or Qinghe Station to Chongli Station takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. After exiting the station, walk about 100 metres downhill and look for the blue free shuttle to the resort or hotel. Shuttle capacity and stops depend on the day’s arrangements.

Return to the station, airports, and parking

For the return to Chongli Station, wait at the shuttle stop near your hotel. After getting off, walk about 200 metres uphill to the station entrance. Zhangjiakou Ningyuan Airport and Beijing Capital Airport are alternative arrival points, but both require an onward ground transfer; check the practical connection to Chongli before booking. Drivers can park at their hotel; check the parking terms with the hotel you booked.

Know before you go

Snow conditions, crowds, and run safety

Virgo’s beginner area is busy on weekends, public holidays, and during winter school holidays. Watch for other skiers and keep a safe distance. Runs are narrow and gradients vary; ice may form in the afternoon. Do not use an unconfirmed lift connection to introduce a beginner to a run. Ask an instructor or resort staff before trying an unfamiliar intermediate run.

Rentals, food, and hotels

On-site rental gear is about CNY 180 per day as a reference. Rental shops in Chongli town are usually cheaper; ask whether delivery to your hotel is available. Restaurants near the hotel are limited and relatively expensive. The hotel has options such as KFC and Costa; Dunxiangju in town is popular, so book at least a day ahead. Check recent room reviews before booking an apartment hotel.

Costs and nearby attractions

Prices are references; public holidays and snow conditions affect ticket types and open runs. Before buying, check the ticket duration and whether it covers the day or night session. Cuiyunshan Forest Scenic Area and Cuiyunshan Galaxy Ski Resort are separate destinations, requiring separate transport arrangements and tickets. Chongli town is a convenient place for a meal or rest after skiing.
