The new Zhengzhou Museum is at No. 9 Wenhan Street in Zhongyuan District, Zhengzhou. Entry is free, no reservation is required, and you enter with your ID card. From Tuesday to Sunday, it is open 09:00–17:00, with last entry at 16:00; it is closed on Mondays.
How much time to allow
Allow two to three hours for the core exhibitions. The building is large and has relatively few seats, so include short breaks when changing floors. If you only want the main highlights, focus on the key exhibitions on the second and third floors and the stone-carving gallery on the first floor.

Second floor: The Founding Royal City
The Founding Royal City follows Zhengzhou's history as an ancient capital. The beast-mask nail-pattern bronze square ding and early pottery are good starting points. From there, you can move to the stone carvings, textiles or natural-history displays according to your interests and build a clearer overview.
First and third floors: stone carvings, cloud collars and an ancient elephant
On the first floor, the Miaoxiang Yijing exhibition focuses on Tang-dynasty stone Bodhisattva statues. On the third floor, Jin Xiu Yun Xia is a special exhibition on cloud collars, while Zhongyuan Xiang Zong displays a fossil skeleton of a Stegodon. Visitors interested in craft details can spend longer with the cloud-collar exhibition; the ancient elephant is an easy subject for children to understand.
Who it suits
This museum works well for visitors who want to see Zhengzhou's city history, Buddhist stone carvings, textile crafts and prehistoric specimens in one visit. The building's exterior is designed as the Crown of the Yellow Emperor, and the central hall has a high ceiling, so you can include a short architectural look as well as the exhibitions.

On entry: locate the floors and vertical circulation
After entering, take a photo of the floor map and locate the lifts or stairs before choosing your route. The direction of the escalators does not necessarily indicate the recommended visiting order; finding the lifts and stairs first makes a planned floor sequence easier.
Recommended order: second floor, first floor, third floor
Start with The Founding Royal City on the second floor, go down to Miaoxiang Yijing on the first floor, then finish with Jin Xiu Yun Xia and Zhongyuan Xiang Zong on the third floor. This covers the main exhibitions in a two- to three-hour visit and lets you leave from the third floor by following the exit signs.
Breaks and optional exhibits
The building is spacious but has few seats, so take a short break before changing floors. If time is limited, keep the second-floor permanent exhibition, the third-floor cloud-collar exhibition and the Stegodon as priorities. Zhengzhou Art Museum is nearby, but treat it as a separate optional stop rather than part of a fixed connecting route.
Get there
Metro Line 14
Take Metro Line 14 to Olympic Sports Center Station (奥体中心站), leave through Exit F and walk about 10–15 minutes to the museum. Inside the Central Cultural District, follow the signs for the museum entrance.
Food nearby
He Zhenzhu Home-style Restaurant across from the museum is an option for Henan food. Tea houses and restaurants around Kaixuan Road are better if you want a longer break after the visit. Opening arrangements depend on the day.
Know before you go
Finding your way around
The museum's internal signs are not always intuitive. Take a photo of the floor map at the entrance and check the gallery names again when changing floors. Escalator directions do not equal the recommended visiting order; the lifts and stairs are easier to use when following a planned sequence.
Managing your energy
The building is large, and two to three hours of continuous walking can be tiring. With limited seating, older visitors, children and anyone unused to standing for long periods should take breaks at the floor changes rather than waiting until the end.
Free entry
Entry is free and no reservation is required, but Monday closures and the daily last-entry time still apply. Bring your ID card and arrive before 16:00 if you want enough time for the full visit.
