Hometown Shrine and Xuanyuan Hall
Hometown Shrine contains the most concentrated historical information in the scenic area, while Xuanyuan Hall is the main building and ceremonial space. On a first visit, make these two areas the focus, then complete the route with the Hanque gate, Xuanyuan Bridge and Ancestor Worship Square.
Ancestor Worship Square and relief corridors
Ancestor Worship Square is large, and the relief corridors on both sides present stories and cultural themes associated with the Yellow Emperor. Visitors interested in ancestry, ritual traditions or local history can spend longer here; a short route can focus on the Hanque gate, Hometown Shrine and Xuanyuan Hall.
Setting expectations about the buildings
Many of the main buildings have been expanded or rebuilt in later periods, while the historic site is concentrated at Hometown Shrine. Plan this as a visit about ancestry and sacrificial culture rather than treating the entire scenic area as an unchanged ancient site.
Build your day
1–1.5 hours: core route
Enter through the Hanque gate, continue past Xuanyuan Bridge to Hometown Shrine and Xuanyuan Hall, then return toward the Ancestor Worship Square. This covers the main buildings and core historical areas for visitors with another activity planned later in the day.
2–3 hours: add the reliefs and Xinzheng Museum
After the core route, walk through the relief corridors on both sides of Ancestor Worship Square, then continue to Xinzheng Museum about 300 metres to the west if time allows. Xinzheng Museum is a separate nearby attraction, so confirm its opening arrangements independently before setting out.
During the Ancestor Worship Ceremony
Large events, concentrated crowds and traffic controls may occur around the third day of the third lunar month. If you visit during this period, confirm the Hanque entrance, parking and departure route first. For a quieter visit, choose dates outside the ceremony period.
Get there
Intercity railway plus taxi
From Zhengzhou East Railway Station, take the intercity train to Xinzheng Airport Station. The listed journey is about 13 minutes; from the station, take a taxi for about 20 minutes to Yellow Emperor's Hometown. Use No. 1 Xuanyuan Road as the final destination.
Bus information
Do not rely on Tour Bus 16 or Bus 18 without first confirming a Xinzheng direction and clear stop information. If you plan to use a bus, confirm the route, stops and return direction before leaving.
Driving
If driving, navigate to Yellow Emperor's Hometown, where free parking is available. During the Ancestor Worship Ceremony or other large events, traffic controls may change the vehicle entrance and parking location; follow the arrangements for that day.
