Zen Shaolin Music Ceremony is staged in Daixian Valley in Dengfeng, where the scenic area provides free parking. From March to December, there is usually one performance each evening at around 20:15, lasting about 65 minutes. Reference prices are CNY 149 for Zone A and around CNY 134 for Zone B. Children under 1.3 metres enter free but do not receive a seat. The performance season, showtimes, discounts and weather-related decisions depend on the date of the performance.
How much time to allow
The performance itself lasts about 65 minutes. With arrival, ticket checks, finding your seat and leaving, plan the evening around one complete performance slot. It works after a daytime visit to Shaolin Temple or another Dengfeng attraction, but it has separate tickets, a separate arrival point and its own return-transport needs.

An outdoor valley stage
The performance uses the Songshan gorge as its backdrop, with the audience watching the stage and changing mountain scenery across a 180-degree view from outdoor seats. Visitors interested in night scenery, lighting and outdoor live performance can make the valley setting and stage space their main experience.
Five musical chapters
The production has five chapters: Water Music—Zen Realm, Wood Music—Zen Meditation, Wind Music—Zen and Martial Arts, Light Music—Zen Enlightenment, and Stone Music—Zen Praise. A man-made moon about 20 metres across, a sea of lights, lasers and the Songshan ancient stone at the finale form the main visual sections. The monk-warrior performance is concentrated in Wind Music—Zen and Martial Arts; the entire show is not a continuous kung-fu performance.
Who it suits
The show suits visitors interested in Zen culture, valley night scenery and outdoor stage design, as well as photographers. Anyone expecting high-intensity martial arts from beginning to end should adjust that expectation. Some scenes are staged at a distance, and audience movement may affect sightlines.
Build your day
Daytime attractions followed by the evening show
Shaolin Temple is about 7 km from the performance venue and Songyang Academy about 8 km away, so you can place the show after a daytime attraction. Use a vehicle for the transfer; the Shaolin Temple ticket and martial-arts performance do not include this show.
Arrival and the performance
After arriving, complete ticket checks and find your seat. Before the sky is completely dark, you can photograph the valley near the cushion seating area. The show starts at around 20:15, but entry, seating and the exact performance time follow the arrangements on the performance date.
Return after the show
After the audience leaves, use your own car or a ride-hailing car arranged in advance to return to Dengfeng town. Public transport requires travelling from Zhengzhou to Dengfeng first and then taking a taxi for about 15–20 minutes to Daixian Valley. After the night performance, do not rely on walking or finding a car at the roadside.
Get there
Driving
Driving from central Zhengzhou takes about one hour. Navigate to Zen Shaolin Music Ceremony; parking at the scenic area is free. After entering the parking area, confirm the walking direction from the car park to the audience seats and complete ticket checks in time for the show.
Public transport
First take a bus from Zhengzhou to Dengfeng, then take a taxi for about 15–20 minutes to Daixian Valley. The final leg depends on a night-time taxi or ride-hailing car, so arrange both the outward and return trips when you buy the tickets.
Know before you go
Weather and season
This is an outdoor valley performance. The March–December season, the evening show and the arrangements for rain may all change. Mosquitoes are common in summer, and the valley can be cooler than the city at night, so a light jacket and insect repellent are useful.
What to expect
Some audience members have reported calligraphy or painting auctions before or during the performance, and spectators may move around. The production centres on Zen storytelling, valley lighting and music; martial arts are one chapter rather than the entire show.
Zones and what the ticket excludes
Zone A and Zone B have different prices and discount rules. Children under 1.3 metres enter free but do not receive a seat. The performance ticket does not include the Shaolin Temple main compound, Pagoda Forest, sightseeing bus, cable car or martial-arts performance; confirm each separately when booking.
