Location, entry and opening hours
Zhongshan Film City is at 85 Cuiheng Avenue in Cuiheng Village, Nanlang, next to the Sun Yat-sen Former Residence Memorial Museum. The usual entrance is the main gate. Daytime hours are 08:30–17:30; the night session runs from 16:00 to 22:00, with last entry at 21:30. Hours may be extended during public holidays, and the day's activities can affect the practical timing.
Ticket types and visit planning
The early-bird daytime ticket is for entry before 10:00 and has a reference price of about CNY 15. The all-day ticket is around CNY 29.9–39.9, and the night ticket around CNY 19.9–39.9; prices change with activities, so check the ticket type for your date before buying. No reservation is normally required. Allow 2–3 hours for a quick circuit, 4–5 hours for a fuller photography visit, or 2–3 hours for a night route.

International-style streets and photography
Film City brings Chinese, Japanese, British and American streets into one site. It suits visitors interested in period architecture, Republican-era street scenes, international-style sets or an easy half-day outing with children. The China area includes Huangpu Military Academy, the Presidential Palace and a replica Guangzhou street. The British area centres on a Gothic church and lawn, while the American area includes a New York street, a western street, saloons and stables. The Japanese area is arranged around Edo-style lanes.
Performances, costumes and extra costs
Chang'an Town has Tang-style lanes, wooden buildings and red lanterns, making it a useful stop for hanfu photography. The park may also schedule horse shows, variety performances, iron-flower shows or other interactive events, but these are not guaranteed every day. Costume rental is an additional cost. Some packages include only styling and make-up, not photography or retouching, so confirm the services before paying.
Build your day
A 2–3-hour quick route
Enter through the main gate and visit the China area first, followed by the British and American areas, then leave through the exit. This covers the Presidential Palace, the Republican-era street, the church and the western street, and works well if you also plan to visit the former residence or Yakou Village later that day.
A 4–5-hour full route
For a first visit or a photography-focused day, follow the China area, Japan area, British area, American area and Chang'an Town. Complete the main buildings and streets in the China area first, then leave Chang'an Town for later hanfu photography or costume rental. If you plan to eat or change costumes, include the waiting time rather than counting only the walking time.
A night-session route
Enter after 16:00, use the evening light in the British and American areas, then continue to Chang'an Town for the lanterns and red walls. After that, check the day's performance schedule. The 19:30 iron-flower show at the Huangpu Military Academy horse ground is a reference time, not a daily guarantee. Check the schedule by QR code after entry before deciding whether to wait near the horse ground.
Get there
Public transport and driving
Bus routes 087, 212 and K28 are among the services that stop at “Zhongshan Film City Station (中山影视城站),” followed by a walk to the main gate. For driving, search for “Zhongshan Film City Underground Parking.” The underground car park connects directly to the entrance and has a reference price of about CNY 20 per day without a time limit. Other free parking areas are available nearby, but involve a longer walk.
Moving around the site
Film City covers a large area. Shared bicycles and electric carts may not always be easy to use; the reference electric-cart price is CNY 79 per hour, while a carriage ride costs about CNY 20 as an optional experience. Walking is easier for most visitors, so wear flat shoes and leave time for photographs, queues and performances.
Know before you go
Performance schedules and changes
Horse shows, variety performances and iron-flower shows can change with the date, activities and on-site arrangements. Check the day's schedule after entry rather than planning from a fixed programme. If one show is your main reason for visiting, keep the route flexible and do not treat it as a guaranteed event.
Food and water
Food and drinks inside the park are relatively expensive; for example, one ice cream and one bottled tea can cost about CNY 22. Choices are also limited. You can bring a water bottle, drinking water and a small amount of dry food, subject to the park's security rules. For a longer visit, plan a rest and meal break in advance.
Crowds, sun and costume rental
Weekends and public holidays are busy. Enter before 09:00 or after 16:00 if you want to avoid the strongest midday sun and some of the crowds. The park has extensive greenery, so bring sun protection and insect repellent. When renting costumes, confirm whether photography, retouching and make-up are included; do not assume a single-item price is a complete photography package.
