Location, opening hours and entry

Zhuhai Museum is at 88 Haihong Road, close to Lovers' Road, Yeli Island and Zhuhai Opera House. Enter through the main door on the first floor and pass the security check.

Individual visitors enter free with an ID card; groups must book one day in advance, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm, with last entry at 4:30pm; it is closed on Mondays except public holidays.

How much time to allow

Allow 1.5-2 hours for the main displays, or 2.5-3 hours for a full first visit. It is a good indoor stop for history-focused visitors, families, hot afternoons or rainy weather along the coast.

Choose your visit

A shorter visit

With 1.5-2 hours, begin on the third floor with the Zhuhai history gallery and sea-view window. Continue to the second-floor traditional arts and folk culture displays, then finish with the Special Economic Zone memory gallery on the first floor.

A full first visit

With 2.5-3 hours, start with A General History of Zhuhai and Marine Chronicles on the third floor. Continue to the second-floor folk culture displays, including waterborne wedding customs and Sanzhao Crane Dance, then finish at Shared Memories on the first floor with material on reform-era Zhuhai, old border-crossing photographs and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge model.

Build your day

Move from history to the present

Start on the third floor for Zhuhai's history and maritime culture, then go to the second floor for folk culture before finishing on the first floor with the city's Special Economic Zone history. After the galleries, use the third-floor sea-view window or upper viewing space to look towards Zhuhai Opera House and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Continue to the waterfront

After the museum, walk to Haitian Park for grass, sea views and a quieter coastal break. In the evening, continue to Zhuhai Opera House for the lights; you can also combine the museum with the nearby Zhuhai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall before heading to the shore.

Get there

Bus, cycling and parking

Take B2, 3, 12, 16, 26, 40 or 43 to Haihong Terminus or Zhuhai Museum stop, then walk about 300 metres. Cycling along Lovers' Road is also possible, but park the bike according to the local rules before entering.

The museum car park is free but has limited spaces, especially on weekends. Haitian Park car park costs CNY 3-5 per hour; the Zhuhai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall car park offers three hours of free parking and suits a combined visit.

Know before you go

Closing times and indoor conditions

Do not leave arrival until late afternoon because entry stops at 4:30pm. Weekday mornings after the 9am opening are generally quieter; weekend afternoons are busier.

The air conditioning can feel cold, so bring a light layer, especially for children. Do not use flash photography or touch non-interactive exhibits.

Useful facilities and nearby stops

There is drinking water inside, so bring a refillable bottle. The service desk can provide commemorative stamps.

For nearby food, consider Nangang No. 1 Seafood Restaurant, Gangxing Seafood City, Tui Kee Cha Chaan Teng or Tianjinmei Dessert Shop. You can then continue to the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Haitian Park or Zhuhai Opera House.
