Haidai Tower is inside Qisheng Lake Park in Zhangdian District, Zibo. The tower contains Zhongshuge bookstore. Qisheng Lake Park is open 24 hours, while the bookstore area usually operates around 09:30–21:30 and may stay open until 22:00 at weekends. Haidai Tower and the bookstore are free to enter, with no reservation required.
A quick visit takes about 1–1.5 hours for the lakeside exterior, fourth-floor viewpoint and first-floor mirrored book wall. Allow 2–3 hours if you also want sunset, the lights, the basement space and time inside the bookstore.
The tower lights may come on around 19:25, with rhythmic lighting beginning around 20:28 and ending around 21:30 or 22:00. The season affects the exact timing, so confirm the lighting arrangement for the day and season of your visit.
How to fit it into a day
Haidai Tower suits visitors interested in architecture, interior design, bookstores and night photography. Qisheng Lake Park also provides outdoor space for walking and a break. There is a children's picture-book area inside, but the first-floor photo area, lifts and some commercial areas may involve queues or feel stuffy at weekends, so families should split the visit between outdoor and indoor time.
Zibo Ceramics and Glass Museum is about 2.5 km away, or around 10 minutes by car, so the two work well as a Zhangdian day combination. The museum requires advance reservation, while Haidai Tower does not; their entry rules are separate.

Lakeside exterior and the fourth-floor viewpoint
The lakeside, stone bridge and pavilion on the far side of the lake are good places to photograph Haidai Tower, its reflection and Qisheng Lake. The fourth-floor viewpoint looks over the lake and the city, and an afternoon visit can include sunset. Set the sunset timing according to the season and day rather than using a fixed clock time.
After the tower lights come on, the lakeside view and the interior take on different qualities. If the full building is your subject, choose the lakeside position first and then go inside, so a queue at the first-floor photo area does not take up the outdoor light.
Zhongshuge and the interior
The first-floor mirrored book wall and U-shaped bookshelves are the main interior design features. The curved basement space has softer light and can be a shorter stop than the first floor. Several areas are part of the bookstore or commercial spaces, so shopping and sightseeing can be treated separately.
The seventh-floor tea room and similar areas may have a minimum spend, and some cultural products cost more than ordinary bookstore items. You can visit Haidai Tower for the building and bookstore space without entering every commercial area; choose those areas according to your needs.
Build your day
About 1–1.5 hours: quick route
Enter from Qisheng Lake Park and photograph Haidai Tower from the lakeside or near the stone bridge. Go inside to the fourth-floor viewpoint, then down to the first-floor mirrored book wall and the curved basement space. If architecture photography is the main goal, complete the lakeside and fourth-floor views before dealing with indoor queues.
During the day, you can walk in Qisheng Lake Park before entering the tower and leave before the lights come on. Return to the park through the open route shown on site; the bookstore floors and park paths are separate circulation systems.
About 2–3 hours: sunset-to-evening route
Enter around 16:00 and start in the basement, then work upward through the bookstore and architectural spaces. Go to the fourth-floor viewpoint around 18:00–19:00 for sunset. After 19:00, wait by the lake or stone bridge for the tower lights, then decide whether to stay for the rhythmic lighting according to the day's arrangement.
Check the evening bus and taxi situation before leaving. If you plan to stay until after the lights, eat before they come on; after the visit, take a taxi directly if possible, as evening public transport may be infrequent.
Get there
Buses and navigation
Take bus 136, 156, 7, 42 or 79 and get off at Qisheng Lake Park Station (齐盛湖公园站), then walk about five minutes. By car, navigate to “Qisheng Lake Park–Haidai Tower” or “Haidai Tower–Zhongshuge”; entering only “Zhongshuge” can lead to results in another city.
Qisheng Lake Park has several entrances, and the walking distance from the lakeside entrances to Haidai Tower varies. After arrival, use Haidai Tower or Zhongshuge as the direction, then choose the lakeside side from which you want to photograph the exterior.
Parking and moving inside
There are car parks around the park. The reference parking arrangement is free for the first three hours, with additional charges after that; follow the signs on site. Lifts may queue at weekends and before or after the lights come on. Stairs can sometimes be faster, but choose according to the needs of children, older visitors and anyone carrying large items.
Know before you go
Crowds, temperature and photo queues
The first-floor mirrored book wall may have a queue on weekends and public holidays. Some interior areas have limited ventilation, and the building may feel warm around midday in summer. If you arrive at midday, walk by the lake first and enter later; if the mirrored book wall is a priority, arrive after 16:00, when weekend midday crowds are more concentrated.
Stay in permitted areas when adjusting your angle and position for photographs, and do not occupy popular spots for a long time. The basement is usually quieter and can reduce the pressure to keep moving; the bookstore and tea room are operating spaces, so follow the on-site instructions about shopping and photography.
Spending and evening return
Some floors are commercial areas. The seventh-floor tea room may have a minimum spend, and some cultural products are relatively expensive. Confirm whether you want to spend money before entering, rather than treating every floor as a free exhibition hall.
Public transport may become less frequent after the lights come on, with some evening services running at intervals close to one hour. Taxis may also take time to arrive. Arrange the return before staying for the full night view; from Haidai Tower to Badaju Convenience Market, a taxi takes about 20 minutes and costs roughly CNY 10–20. You can place dinner before the lights or along the return route.
Combining it with the ceramics museum
Zibo Ceramics and Glass Museum is about 2.5 km from Haidai Tower, or around 10 minutes by car. A practical combination is the museum during the day followed by Qisheng Lake Park in the afternoon. The museum is free but requires reservation, while Haidai Tower is free with no reservation; confirm both places' opening hours separately, and treat the night lighting as a seasonal, day-specific arrangement.
