How to Visit
1

A city-center temple worth about 1 hour

Anshun Confucian Temple is free to enter and opens 09:00-17:00.

Tip:It is small, but the stone carving is excellent, and it fits well with Anshun Old Town, the Martial Temple, and Gufu Street.
2

Start with the entrance and Lingxing Gate

Walk from the screen wall, dismounting stele, Pan Pool, and Lingxing Gate toward the inner halls to see the full central axis.

Tip:Do not rush straight to Dacheng Hall. The stone carvings in the front section are also worth time.
3

Make the dragon columns at Dacheng Hall the focus

The openwork stone dragon columns in front of Dacheng Hall are the most important sight at Anshun Confucian Temple.

Tip:This is a place for close observation of carving details, not for loud or rushed photo-taking.
4

Continue into the old town for food

The temple is in central Anshun, so after the visit you can continue to the old-town streets, the Martial Temple, or Gufu Street.

Tip:Parking nearby may be inconvenient, so walking or taking a taxi is usually easier if you are staying in the city.
Highlights
  • The openwork dragon columns at Dacheng Hall are the temple's most important feature.
  • Lingxing Gate has rich stone carving, with figures and patterns worth looking at slowly.
  • Pan Pool, Zhuangyuan Bridge, and the central axis help visitors understand the layout of a traditional Confucian temple.
  • The temple is compact and easy to fit into a half-day city route.
  • Since it is free, it is one of the best-value cultural stops in central Anshun.
Insider Tips

Do not arrive just before closing; the temple needs some time for details.

Morning light is better for seeing stone carving and photographing the buildings.

If your main interest is natural scenery, use the temple as a short stop before a meal.

The nearby area works well on foot, so you do not need a dedicated car for this stop.

Do not touch the stone carvings; use close viewing or camera zoom for details.
